“I am very grateful for the opportunity to help student-athletes excel, both on and off the field, at Rutgers University," said VanDyke. “I have had the good fortune of working with Coach (Steve) Pikiell for many years. To further that relationship, while building many others under the leadership of Pat Hobbs, is a blessing. I can’t wait to work with our programs to help shape success in the Big Ten Conference.”

Very happy, this team needs to get stronger. Just look at a Michigan State vs us.

This is an EXCELLENT hire IMHO. Stony Brook went from a nothing athletic department to one that won 27 team titles, both regular and/or post-season, in the last 11 years and he's been there the entire time! I would fill my athletic department with people from one that has built itself so quickly from virtually nowhere.

Doubtful, plans are in place for the basketball, wrestling, volley ball and gymnastics.
Where does baseball, softball, lacrosse, soccer, field hockey, track & field, cross-country, rowing, swimming and diving, tennis and golf
do their S&C training? We're not talking about practice facilities.

I know they train different sports but I wonder how much Van Dyke and Parker will interact/collaborate?

The BB facility includes S&C space. It is not just about a BB court.

They don't, and it shows, lol.

Listen we all get know what you think about our sports programs, and many of them are way behind where they should be - without question - but included in your most recent insult are 2 programs that are currently doing very well:

Men's Soccer went to the 2nd round of the NCAA's and Women's to The Final 4 so, I guess...

....maybe it's starting to "show" in some sports and maybe you should do a little research, on ALL of our programs, before you continue to insult? I mean you never, ever, stop taking shots. Why not be pro-active instead and maybe endow a scholarship (at out-of-state tuition cost) to help get that sport to a level that will make all of us proud?

I would hope a good deal. Both really seem to know what they are doing and a collaborative effort might yield improvements to both of their programs. Both preach mental toughness, so think that might be the first big push over the 23 sports.

It almost feels like for the 1st time, in a LONG time, Rutgers Athletics department has let Mens Basketball go behind the wheel and drive for a few minutes.

Football is still driving, but MBB is finally riding shotgun. The conference situation drove the investment in football, but now in the B1G it is time to invest in the other major sport.

Well I think they deserve it after being jammed in the trunk for so long!!! Very excited to see a competitive team and the RAC rocking like it did during my college days.

Is this S&C hire specifically a basketball resource or an athletic dept as a whole resource?
From the first paragraph of the linked article from the OP.
"PISCATAWAY, N.J. - David VanDyke, who spent the past 11 years at Stony Brook, including the last two as Assistant Athletics Director for Athletic Performance, has been named Assistant Athletics Director-Strength and Conditioning at Rutgers University. He arrives “On the Banks” with 18 years of performance coaching experience and will work extensively with basketball, while overseeing strength and conditioning for 23 the Scarlet Knights’ 24 programs."

Maybe it's obvious, but I think its important to note that as an Assistant A.D. with oversight over multiple programs this position is almost certainly not counting towards the funds allocated for basketball assistants. This is the way to get things done.

That's a heck of a lot of athletes and different physical domains / specialties one guy and his staff? are tasked with getting B1G ready. Hopefully comes with a big staff and numerous specialists within that staff.

Does anyone know how it was aligned in the past?
