an overpriced college with a mini campus outside Newark
boggles the mind

I want Rutgers to be the best program in the state, not SHU. I don't think it's great at all.
Its amazing how successful teams can be with a squad full of talented players. The recent games against Seton Hall have been a embarrassment and to their credit ,they are showing their strength by defeating Xavier in the Big East Tournament.Seton Hall is getting terrific local players which Rutgers can't match.

Hobbs will know how to orchestrate a few recruits-for-coaches deals and help RU catch-up.

As do all of us. I had the Smurfs as much as any Rutgers fan since they are our rival. But we ate out of it right now, it gives me a team to root for.

I don't get that part if you truly think of them as a rival. Would any Michigan fan root for Ohio State? Auburn and Alabama? Yankees and Red Sox?

I want RU MBB to be far better than Seton Hall's MBB , but have to give the Pirate's credit for this season and congratulate them for how they played this year.

Good season for them but I will be rooting against them...dont understand why anyone would want them to be successful as it only hurts Rutgers

Props to them. A few years ago they were left on life support by Gonzo. They came back. Will root for them in tourney.

I have my law degree from Seton Hall, so I am rooting for them. Rutgers comes first, then SHU then Monmouth.

F Seton Hall, but, can't argue: they're a fun team to watch and are playing like they're on a mission for Mr. Whitehead.

You do realize Seton Hall voted against Rutgers joining the Big East. I would nerver root for SH and we compete? for recruits with them. Have pulled for Princeton in the ncaa tourney since Rutgers 1/4 century drought.

I've always loathed them (especially Lane, Toney-El and Pope, they can suck it), but they have a very solid, talented team that plays gritty, hustling defense and unselfish offense. They crash the boards & don't back down from any opponent. I found myself actively rooting for them last night (partly because a good friend is a diehard and I'm happy for him). They have a realistic shot at the Sweet Sixteen.

If RU had their roster, the RAC would be rocking. I'm jealous.

Very impressed to see how a bunch of inner city kids have embraced Derrick Gordon. The way they mobbed him after the Creighton shot was great to watch. Willard and all SHU players and fans should be proud.

I'll go back to hating them next year. They're my team I'm rooting for in 2016.

I want RU good enough not to fear any other program and once RU becomes a good program and the Hall is also fairly good, it will make for a great in state rivalry and beneficial when it comes to recruiting in the NYC Metro area because of the publicity those rivalry games will get.

There is nothing to fear about the Hall being a pretty good program if you expect RU to become a good one.
If you don't think RU will be good, playing Monmouth, FDU, NJIT and every MBB program in NJ should keep you awake at nights including games against the Newark Rutgers Scarlet Raiders

With the right support and coach, Shoe should be an after thought.

So go Shoe. I was rooting for them.

Ditto. Although they are a very dangerous team at this point I will still root for them to go out in the opening round of the NCAA tournament.

Whitehead was too much for 'Nova. Arcidiacono was horrible for 'Nova, the SHU guards much better athletes and smothered him all game. Still the refs blew a blatant SHU foul call on the 'Nova player put back attempt at the end.

SHU forwards were faster than Arcidiacono too and cutoff his drives all game. Can't believe 'Nova doesn't have a real PG, Arcidiacono is a SG.

Wish more than The Hall , Georgetown and Providence voted against bringing in Rutgers and WV keeping RU from being a member of the old BE , new BE and newer BE mess .
Boston College, Miami, Pittsburgh and Syracuse was ready to combine with the four football only BE members ( Rutgers, West Virginia, Temple and Virginia Tech) and form a separate all-sports league if expansion was not approved.
That group might have started a Conference that would have been one that RU and the other members wouldn't want to leave instead of having the BE hold the FB part of the conference back and make it something every FB school wanted to get away from.
For all we know, that conference might have raided the ACC , instead of them raiding the BE twice [roll]
