Is there any validity to the rumor that Corey has let it be known that he is only staying if the new coach retains Shoes as an assistant coach?

The way I see it:
Once a player starts dictating decisions involving the coaching staff , the rest of the team will not respect the program as much as they should and other top players might demand to be listened to as well.

Now letting the players express their thoughts and lobby for coaches to stay is another type of situation and as long as they know that their input will be only part of the hiring process, don't see anything wrong with that.

Maybe Sanders has a few million dollars to donate to the program. Then he'll gain some clout.

First off, if it were true (I have no idea if it is or not), why can't he take his own stance? Have his own criteria for staying? It's his right. Doesn't need to be perceived as a threat to Hobbs or anybody. He's a flight risk, like every other player, because when there's a coaching staff change ANYWHERE, players become flight risks. And if he has his own criteria that needs to be met in order for him to stay, then so be it. He deserves to have an opinion, he has earned that plus it's HIS future and his college experience on the line here. Last time I checked, you get 5 to play 4.... for life. Let him have his own criteria. Who are we to judge him on that?

Now with that said, please stay Corey. I think it's in your best interests. Just my opinion. :)

I'll "judge" when somebody who is going to school, for FREE, opens their mouths as such IF it were actually the case. Bottom line is he's a frosh and, while not what I'd exactly call a "team leader," he is someone who could influence others with words as such and IMHO, at this juncture, you should just keep your mouth shut if you don't have something 100% positive to say about the search for your next head coach and his staff.

Why even have this discussion if he never said it publically to the media etc? And privately, again to me he has the right to his opinion. Schollie or no. Free ride or not. Again it's the young man's future. Kind of a big deal.

He's got every right to his opinion - no question - but if something as such WAS to go public, well, the public has the right to criticize/comment/judge as well IMHO.

As long as he don't make a statement ,in public, like without Shoes he's gone I won't
jump on the kid if he expresses to others that he would like Shoes to be part of the next staff
and know some would report it like a demand.
