one bad year after 3 straight NCAA appearances, 5 NCAAs in 8 years but only once advanced past first round. Hope Hobbs has his number.

If it ain't Hurley, yea absolutely talk to Ford. By the way, I heard our AD was at the garden rooting for the Hall. How about start interviewing and hire us a coach.

Really? How do you know who he met for lunch? Maybe after the game for dinner? Lots of possibilities here and, uhm, he IS on the job. All good!

Wouldn't be a bad choice . How about kelvin Sampson ? I think he would want to get back into a power conference

Ford took over a pretty good Cowboy program built by Eddie Sutton ( 368-151) and handed to his son Sean (39-29 ) who lasted two years before he resigned under pressure and Ford was hired.
Ford is worth looking at, but like Hurley, wonder if he could overcome what problems he would be facing at RU .

Every HC that was fired because of having a losing record after having a pretty good winning streak should make you wonder if they still have the stuff that made them good if the school they were at didn't think so any more and let them go.

Hurley...pass
Sendek...pass
Pastner...pass
Ford....pass

so much delusion
I really don't know the exact situation regarding how much Rutgers has to spend after buying Jordan out. But if they don't have a lot of money Bill Coen at Northeastern has done an excellent job and may be ready to move up.

Rutgers is a potentially HUGE job...tap into the local talent and the upside is POTENTIALLY epic...though here we sit 25 years removed from our last NCAAT appearance! Hope Hobbs calls EVERYONE!

As long as you want names, Johnny Jones should be available. Look what he did this year with a loaded team.

I think its the case of those schools having high expectations. At RU we just want to make the tournament first...we seem to be the only program that projects the future, worried about coaches leaving before they have even done anything. Any guy who brings us to one tournament is considered a major success and position our program forward.

he is very shady so it wouldnt go over well with our fans who have this unrealistic standards of choirboys. He simply wins everywhere and did an incredible job this year at Houston

Anyone who brings us a NCAAT appearance will deserve a small parade down George street!!;)

Any one that can point RU in the right direction will get my support once he gets hired.
But in the meantime I'll point out those being mentioned having some faults to be considered before blindly accepting them as the best candidate for the job.
Everyone available or soon to has some faults or they wouldn't be available and those still at their school and being considered as candidates for the job need to have their pro and cons looked at before hailing them as the One.

I just hope Hobbs hires the One that overcomes RU's faults and not be one that adds to RU's problems because of his faults.

Yep. Sampson was cited by the NCAA for recruiting violations at Indiana. No way. Can't you hear the recruiters from other schools? Son, do you want your one and done year ruined by another Sampsov violation?

Isn't every college basketball coach shady ? Sampson is no worse than other coaches . He may merit be worth consideration

I mentioned him about month or so ago with the expectation he could get fired and that I think he's a solid choice if available. Pretty much any candidate we hire is going to have some warts on him to a degree, it's unlikely we're getting the top candidates out there so guys like Sendek, Ford and some of the mid major names are perfectly fine with me. Both those guys are off the Pitino tree too, similar to Willard, so they seem like realistic options to me.

Travis Ford could be OSU's Rick Barnes. What a stupid move by Clemson to get rid of Barnes.

Ford would be a significant upgrade over anyone whose coached here in the last 25 years. I don't know what's wrong with some posters.

They didn't really get rid of Barnes, he left for Texas. Barnes had three so-so seasons at Clemson. One season was really good.

After his fourth season he was losing a lot of talented players and would have been rebuilding. Texas offered him an opportunity to rebuild but with a brand new contract and lower expectations. He made the right move.

Is he coaching anywhere now?
