Jordan buyout is $2 million, Staff buyout ? I have no idea, maybe $500k, $300K.....zero ?

Any coach coming in will demand at least $2 million or more, plus, a BIG increase in the money allocated for a coaching staff, higher recruiting budget and probably lots of other increased budget items.

By, the way, Football Coach Ash makes $2 million. Would Rutgers pay a basketball coach the same or more than the football coach? I doubt it.

The R Build Fund is for facilities, not for changing a coach..... so, where's the money if the priority is to fund facility improvement? Anyone on this board send Hobbs a check for a buyout and a new coach ?

That's why Pat Hobbs is here - don't worry your little head - he's got this

the tree is out back by the baseball field.

FIG, I know you have mentioned the money issue in the past....it's a big issue. Any new coach will demand a lot....probably, immediate locker room improvement, weight room improvements, media improvement, academic support improvements.....a long list.

Where is the money to keep him. I am talking about lost ticket sales etc. Don't think the B1G brass is not looking into this.

On the Rutgers money tree?

As much as change may be needed, anyone thinking money is not an issue is in la la land.
I actually think it's the opposite.

It was the last refuge of the Flood supporters, so I assume it will be used in similar fashion by the handful of EJ supporters.

there is always money.

We all know better.

This is where the one more year debate really matters. If money is found to shell out the 5M necessary is will probably be one or two man job from people who have not committed to making contributions as such as of yet.

Everyone said there was no money to fire flood and upgrade staff. Yet the money was there in the end.

There is money.

It will take a 6 year 14.25mm contract commitment from RU. It will be tied to B1G money rolling in.

year: 1: $1.75mm
Year 2: $2 mm
Year 3: $2.25 mm
Year 4: $2.5mm
Year 5: $2.75 mm

Well it's a new day, Barchi seems to be supporting athletics more than he has in the past, and there was money...for football. Basketball has been the red-headed stepchild here for years, and I won't believe that's changing until I see it. Not only in terminating Jordan, but the replacement must be someone worth replacing and buying out Jordan for.

it's been decades of neglect in basketball. Call me jaded but I'll believe it when I see it.

You think Rutgers will pay a BBALL coach about the same or slightly less than the football coach?

A new coach will lead to an increase in ticket sales. The increase in ticket sales will lead to an increase in concession sales. Men's basketball is already in the black. The increase in sales will pay for a new coach. If we don't hire a new coach, ticket sales will drop and we will be in the red.

There is no evidence ticket sales will increase with a new coach. Ticket sales have been in a general decline for the last ten years. Only a extremely big name could increase ticket sales. We cannot attract said name at this time.

Lot more money now then when fhj was there.

If ru wants to do it they can find the money.

No. We are losing (relying on instiutional support) more now. We still have the interest on the big stadium expansion bond over our head that now looks a bit more problematic based on our performance.

Yes we have B1G revenue coming down the road, but I'll bet it might be partially or entirely accounted for already.

Didn't work with Eddie Jordan.

I don't think any of the staff has guaranteed contracts. $2mil. Sooner or later we'd have to pay it anyway ...unless you think Eddie will retire as RU basketball coach or ditch us for a better job. Nope. The time is now and the cost is $2mil.

Maybe we can try the strategy of winning a few games. That may help sales

Um no. Hobbs may be the guy to find the money, but the money has never been there in the past.l especially when it comes to basketball.

The money was always there. It is just in the past our ADs have made the choice to not spend it on basketball

Rutgers has a total budget of $3.8 Billion. Rutgers Athletics gets about $70 Million of that. We are talking about spending a couple of million extra on Jordan's buyout and the incremental cost of the next coach.

Let's put it in terms of your household budget. Let's say you make $200,000 per year. So that is your household budget (comparable to the $3.8 billion Rutgers annual budget). You've allocated $3700 to spend on your summer vacation (comparable to Rutgers Athletics budget). A week's stay in the Hyatt Regency will cost you a total of $105 more than a week in the Super 8. With a household budget of $200,000 and a vacation budget of $3700, you aren't asking where the extra $105 will come from to stay in the Hyatt. You may choose to stay in the Super 8 anyway, but you certainly aren't being forced to by budgetary constraints.

We just need to attract a coach that makes us competitive again. Make this team competitive and the Rac will be rocking like it was during the Waters era.

Everyone said there was no money to fire flood and upgrade staff. Yet the money was there in the end.

There is money.

In the end are the key words. When Barchi came to his senses and realized it was time to go start acting like we were in the BIG10, instead of just saying it.

There was no money to be found the year before when JH failed/botched the firing of Flood the year before. So to say the money has always been there is incorrect.
