I'd like to see Eddie get another year

With a full complement of players, I think we'd see progress. The reason why we regressed this year is we simply don't have enough players. The kids are exhausted, playing too many minutes, thx to a 7 man rotation many games, but doing the best they can. Hard to play good defense/show good fundamentals when you're tired, which is a point many posters here don't appreciate.

oh god sounds like the OP is naïve and hasn't been paying attention. It sounds like a statement straight out of the athletic department. I've rested by case already so I am done arguing all my points. Someone else can explain to Al all the damning evidence against Jordan, Its not a science project where you give time for an experimentation to work. Al was also supporting Flood to the end I believe.

Hard to recruit during a season like we've had... which in turn lowers the ceiling for future seasons... and you're in a downward spiral. We needed a couple more Sanders/Laurent/Freeman in this class, and didn't get it.

The back office roster management, staff hiring, recruiting... as or more important than the X's and O's when it comes to building a successful program. That aspect hasn't been much more successful than the on-court aspect.

There has been very little progress in the last 25 years .Coaches and players have come and gone but the results remain the same. The last two years in the B1G clearly have showed how unprepared Rutgers was for this level of competition because the recruiting has been abysmal.

well it could only go in one direction from where we sit today..

..and just what this board needed. Another baiting of the anti-Jordan crowd. This ought to be good. Thanks for teeing up another street fight discuss...

Eddie should get a 5 year extension. He's a Great Ambassador for the School. His Wife is smoking hot. It took the Wrestling Team, 9 years to make real progress. Patience, People, Patience. At some point, he'll figure it out.

Im too tired of arguing it by now. Whether someone strongly believes that the injuries are a factor is a fair argument but at this point the losing, the embarrassment, the stench of a bad program and the fanbase believing there needs to be a change are all things that trump any benefit of the doubt given for another year. A change needs to be made at this point because the losing is overwhelming for the program to handle

Less than 2 weeks from now we should know EJs future here, one way or another, then the message board fun really begins...let's hope at least Hobbs is competent enough to make a statement on his future right after the season ends

If only we had been able to steal a couple games the best thing that could've happened to Eddie was the injuries. Built in excuse, disguising what people who actually follow recruiting or watch games all season long rather than parachuting in after football season could clearly see. The results have been so historically putrid that not even the injury excuse will allow the administration to stick with Eddie if he wants to remain. And for all the injury talk, the fact remains that we actually only lost ONE starter to injury. Doorson's preseason injury left us with only two centers to start the season but right now Eddie's recruiting failures have us going into next year with just Doorson (still hurt) and Diallo.

Also, who says we'll have a full complement of players? We've got two guys currently suspended which is always a red flag, 1 big man still out with a foot injury, another playing with a foot injury and there are always transfers from every program.

Three Centers is a MUST HAVE in college basketball ?

maybe someone should check how many centers Iowa or Michigan st have on their current roster.

Though I've changed from thinking like Al, know there are some who feel the same way that he does and I respect their right to feel that way.

I'm glad to hear some won't be argued that Jordan should be let go anymore, but wonder what some of the posters who repeatedly informed this board of the reasons Eddie should go will be talking about if not arguing that Jordan must go.[jumpingsmile]

Let's just keep hiring and firing coaches every 3-4 yrs. That will turn around the basketball program:^/ This season was bad of epic proportions. What's one more year with Eddy? Let him play with a full roster of his guys. It's simple if he finishes .500 or better he stays. Below: he goes.

Or fire him now and get a retread (Sendek) or an over rated coach (D. Hurley).

Let's see if this program can hang tight for one more year before blowing it up and starting over again.

Well, this board will be in full meltdown after we play Nebraska next week, especially if Jordan comes back for season 4.

hanging tight for one more year...what does that even mean

do you think Eddie is taking us to the NCAA tourney...if your answer is no, he needs to go now

hanging tight = punting investment once again down the road which is status quo for this school...its a good thing Hobbs isn't status quo

agree...I feel some people casually offer opinions without even watching whats going on, football fans are like that too when they address basketball..oh yeah give him another year to see what he could do, yet they haven't watched one minute

So who are you hiring next year who is better than these and are upgrades? Especially when it's likely more jobs are open next year over this?

What could one more year do? Eddie could gain the title of undisputed worse coach and not have to share it with Littlepage

Agree @ruman. This is what I don't understand...the pool of coaches won't drastically change next year and spit out a guaranteed coach dying to come to RU. In fact, it's more likely the pool of coaches is smaller next year. Keeping Eddie another year is small time thinking.

Rutgers will be a bigger laughingstock than it already is if Eddie and the staff are retained. Even North Carolina eased out Matt Doherty back in 2003. Not easy to get rid of a beloved figure, but the AD needs to do whatever it takes to move the program forward. About the only thing that might work for me is if Eddie brings aboard a coach in-waiting who is an assistant at a hugely successful major program who is nationally known for his recruiting prowess and eye for talent and hugely connected in AAU/travel ball circuit. And if he has NYC/metro area roots, that would seal the deal.

This is what I dont get bac? You are arguing that 3 years ago when he was hired the expectation was that EJ should have RU in the dance by year 4? On what planet is that a reasonable expectation given the depth the program sunk to with Rice?

For those willing to stick with Eddie "one more year", will you offer to pay for my season tickets and SASF requirement for next year? Anyone who is willing to wait another year is either 1) a message board troll (most likely), 2) an infrequent visitor to the RAC with no financial or emotional investment in the basketball program or 3) Both.

I want to make sure Rutgers hires an active HC from a major program(GW,Dayton,Memphis,Marquette)),no inactive retreads or Ivy HC or local minor HC.
They also need to hire a top notch staff that can recruit and develop players.

Your statement is ridiculous re: people who want one more year for Eddie. If you fire Eddie this year, the product on the floor will be awful next year.....you are not going to fire Eddie and miraculously have five 4-star players on the court next year.

no I didnt, I didn't expect us to be losing 39 of our last 44 games and have two separate 15 game losing streaks as well has about 23 losses by more than 20 points in his 3 years. I expected there to be some hope and optimism in the program..not a stench of losing

Eddie can coach here 10 years, he isn't making the dance, is he making it in year 5? no. some advocating for him to come back for next year for what...the team will be better of course, they cant be any worse..what does 12-20 accomplish...its not about this year and the injuries...its about everything...look at Ash and look at Jordan, couldn't be farther apart. Eddie isn't a college coach, just a bad fit for this job

the product will be awful withEddie, we get a one year jump to improve and bring in a guy that can coach coach and improve the recruiting which aint so hot for next year and who knows guys may stay and they are just as likely to leave if Eddie stays

ive seen people throw out this argument...wahhhhhhhhh who is going to come here and throw their hands in the air, the same thing they did with Flood. Its not any easier to find someone next year or the year after or the year after that. Its Hobbs job as AD to identify candidates and there will be someone willing to take a shot...and no we aren't paying $4 million and we wont get a top notch hotshot..most programs dont
