this is what real basketball looks like. Iowa is hustling all over the place, knocking down shots, playing good team defense, and not turning the ball over. It's amazing how much fun college bball is when you have a decent product.

Wisconsin lost again, now 8-6. Remember having discussion with someone and I thought they lost too many good players.

I thought Hayes and Koenig was a good enough nucleus.

Purdue is a real good team. Especially in conference play. I am not sure how they would hold up in the NCAAs.

We could have had McCaffery here if TP had fired Fred Hill like he should had at the end of the season instead of a month later...but that was Rutgers doing things on the cheap

Also Hobbs passed on McCaffery after he was interviewed and chose Willard apparently...yikes

Think he choose Iowa - withdrew from SHU.

I think there are conflicting reports on that. I saw a quote that said SHU was saying McCaffery was the safe choice, that something was just not right in the interview. Note that SHU passed on McCaffery in 2006 deciding to go with Gonzo

My wife's aunt is a diehard Iowa fan who lives in Iowa City, and she says everyone there -- even still -- wants McCaffrey gone. My interest in Rutgers basketball has been relatively nonexistent for years now, but I would think Rutgers should jump on Fran if he's ever fired from Iowa.

BTW, I watched the Iowa-Michigan State game last night, and I couldn't get over how NOT loud the crowd at Carver-Hawkeyes Arena was virtually the whole game. They TROUNCED Michigan State, and not much noise. That place sells out at 15,200, too. Weird. I miss the days of the RAC being 8,500 screaming nuts because the team had just beaten its 6th Top 25 team of the year. Sigh.

Good to hear from you again RUFAN4LIFE. The game was anyone's at the RAC today with 5 min left and the crowd did not get into it. No cheering on D. I think we all forgot how to cheer.

haha like a ghost appearing through the fog. You have been missed, unfortunately you have missed nothing lol

The RAC was a mausoleum today despite being down only a few possessions throughout. Students have not even shown for one game. The RU chant was pathetic today and the Indiana fans were there in big numbers.

I also would take McCaffery in a heartbeat. I don't know what the Iowa fans want. They aren't Mich St or Ohio State. He has had them in the tourney the last 2 years after he rebuilt them and oh they just beat MSU. I just wish TP had fired Freddie in March and we got Fran here

Although last night's game was an announced sellout at 15,400, in actuality, the crowd was a few thousand short of that due to bad weather in the area and many Iowa fans on their way to the Rose Bowl.

Also, don't overlook Denzel Washington's absence for MSU.

Haha thanks man. I haven't missed anything indeed. I was under no illusion that Eddie would be the savior, but I wasn't against his being hired, either. Sadly, the poor guy is very overmatched as a college coach and recruiter. I don't even know if McCaffrey could turn it around here either, though. I don't know if anyone can. Northwestern is going to dancing this year after NEVER going. They're 13-1 now after their win tonight at Nebraska. If Northwestern can go and we can't, it really is all over.

Thanks man. And yes, forgot how to cheer indeed. No one person in the stands can be blamed for that. I'm amazed anyone still goes. Are the crowds really as big as they are announcing this year? I'm seeing 4,000 here, 6,000 there ... I find that hard to believe considering how bad the team (and some of the opponents) are.

This is just not true. Hawkeye fans love Fran McCaffery and he is a very good fit for Iowa. You might be getting this mixed up with Iowa's last coach... Todd Lickliter. Now, there was some real venom from Hawkeye fans there.

Iowa has the inside track on the Big 10 title...they won big at home over the team favored to take it all and then took down the third highest ranked team on the road. No school in any conference has as big of wins as Iowa just got the past week.

I saw McCaffery taking in the Iowa /Rutgers game tonight. Just curious if EJ even been to a women's game.
