Another site mentioned a DE transferring out...Twitter says he can't wait to see the smile on his Mom's face......If true, sounds like a homesick issue

Panagos was a big factor in him coming....I'm curious if that says anything about him returning as DL coach.

Removed all RU mentions from his twitter.
That's what you get when your new coach hasn't even talked to you one on one. Coach is too busy trying to get another victory for OSU while our players don't even have a chance to talk to him. No wonder players wold leave.

Great hire HOBBS! Schiano is out there any you hire a guy who has no HC experience, no NJ ties, no RU ties, hires a staff that has not had any experience at their new positions. What a trainwreck.

Great hire! Glad we hired an up and Comer and not a retread.

Our staff is busy worrying about Bowl games for other colleges. LOL. Doesn't matter, this kid was gone before he got here.

Bite me everyone.

Oh, settle down. A number of people already knew Ford was gone when you posted this thread. What we've learned over the years is that most of the time it's not worth trying to break big news on this board because, even when you turn out to be right, you still have to endure the background idiocy.

Tell ya what - I'll let ya drive my car. Would that help? :)

Between recruiters and prospects sure. Grown men hanging on every word of some 16-17-18 year old? No.
Nope wrong again. Tons of top prospects cite the "_______ fan base shows me the most love". Are these fans calling these recruits. Nope they're tweeting at them. Our fan base is so small time, it kills me.

So it has nothing to do with relationships with coaches? Playing time? Style? Chance to play on the biggest stages? History of success? Where exactly does tweets from a bunch of 30-40 year olds fall in that order?

Of course all of the above factors matter. But when the recruiting battle is heated and close it comes down to the attention from the fans. Whether you want to believe that or not, it's truth. And just so you know, I think these kids are little prima donnas who beg for attention but unfortunately if you want them to rep your school you gotta give it to them

I don't doubt that. Many of these kids, especially in basketball, have had adults kissing their butts from the time they're 12. I saw it first hand when my son was playing AAU.

Please Schiano did not want to come and other coaches like Bronco Mendenhall are still coaching their teams.

Proof? Where is proof from any source that a bona fide offer was made top GS and discussions were anything more than "reaching out".

From all I've seen Hobbs may have done enough to say we explored it with GS but not in a meaningful way. He intentionally opted for the growing pains GS version for apparent belief in future star quality.

Agree. -And it seems a decent number of those, (though certainly NOT all), who find anything they can to gripe about regarding the new coach are those who would have been perfectly happy to still have in place the car crash that was the KF regime.

All these de-commits and transfers are just weakness leaving the program.... I trust in Ash getting the job done. couple weeks and you guys will have Ash in NJ full time and find something else to b!tch about.

I know people are going to read me the riot act for posting this but, everyone is saying that we'll be fine don't worry nothing to see here. Every loss is being dismiss as he was a project, he was destined to decommit, he didn't want to be here anyway or onto the next. I must say the attrition rate with decommits and now the transfer is becoming a little worrisome. I'm hoping we get some good news on the recruiting front at some point, but with only a month left to go once Ash and the staff arrives fulltime I'm concerned we won't get many new commits.

Dammit RU needed to hire a HC that would keep this recruiting class intact .
That worked out well the last time [eyeroll]

Foprd , Cambell and/or whoever can deconmmit, as long as the new HC can make the RU FB program something all RU FB fans can be proud of and expect to be in contention for major bowls every year with the hope of earning playoff spot.

I want long term results and am willing to see a minor recruiting setback this season while Ash shows everyone what a commitment means.
He might be in Columbus , but he's still doing everything he can on the recruiting front and can point to himself as an example of keeping your word and not letting the players counting on you down.
In the long run Ash staying for OSU's bowl game against Notre Dame will work in Rutgers favor when Ash is recruiting and asking the recruits and their parents to trust him not letting them down if Rutgers is their choice .

If this is in response to my post no I didn't want a HC who could just keep this recruiting class intact. This seems to be everyone's response when anyone questions anything. Also it's just a concern. I really don't expect Ash to bring in to many new recruits with so little time remaining in this recruiting class. My major concern is that this will be the 3rd subpar recruiting class in a row(not Ash's fault). The talent will simply not be there in the next few years to see any marked improvement. Actually the talent level could be worse then we have seen in years. So we might be waiting a while for your long term success model.

No it wasn't.
It was because there are a lot of posters down on Ash for not leaving OSU right after RU hired him and acting like he would have made a big difference in the decommits.
I have no doubt Ash either talked to the kids decommitting or had someone talk to them on his behalf.
Every school that has a coaching change usually loses some of its verbals and we shouldn't think RU will be the exception.

In my post I'm just saying the long haul is what Ash must be looking at ( recruiting-wise) and the way recruits will be looking at him in the future will be helped by his not running out on the OSU players close to him now.
Trust is big factor and I think Ash is showing he can be trusted to keep his word by staying at OSU until their last game has been played and not letting down the players that are counting on him to help them win that game.

So, when close, the tweeter tally decides? This is absurd. Players do not pick schools on fans tweets.

When it's close, yes it often comes down to attention from fans. I stated in a prior thread the only things recruits care about. 1) NFL prepping 2) winning championships 3) attention from fans. In other words is football going to be a free ticket to getting laid because it's a big deal at school.

There are always going to be decommits and transfers when there is a staff change. Most of the guys who have decommitted were guys who were soft commits from the beginning. Reynolds visited Nebraska a week after committing to RU.
