kenpom has SHU 75 RU 70

SHU starts 6'3'' 6'4" 6'6" 6'8" 6'9"

Given last night we could see a lineup of (I know who starts isnt important)
sanders williams laurent freeman lewis

SHU truns it over a lot and is terrible from the line. Their pace of play is at 70 possessions per game 198th.

they have 6 core players, 5 are sophs and 1 a senior.

I'd think Williams gets Whitehead and Sanders get Carrington.

I think Williams gets Carrington who was on the same high school team as Williams. They are close friends and I know last year they had bragging rights on the line in the game. SHU won big and I'm sure Carrington let Williams know it. I think Corey is faster than Whitehead but Whitehead is as strong as a fullback. He muscles guys for shots because he is so strong. Hopefully Whitehead will not have as good of a game as he did last year vs. RU. It might have been his best game of the year last year.

This is a bad matchup for Rutgers because Seton Hall has 3 point shooters as well as inside scoring.I can see them scoring 75-85 points in this game.

Interesting. i'd think Eddie is going to switch defenses and play some zone which could give Sanders a breather. I get worried asking Sanders to do too much. A lot of effort needed to shut down an explosive guard.

I'm not too interested in RU mens hoops yet, but I like this rivalry and will be in attendance on Saturday with another RU fan and 2 SHU fans.

RU should focus on revenge for getting run off the court up at The Rock last year.

Daniels has the size and athletic ability to D-up Whitehead; he missed last year's SHU game due to injury when Whitehead was unstoppable vs. our smaller guards.

Not really the case. We're 168th in 3 PT percentage and 270th in 3 PT made.

What SHU team are you watching??? We are not a good 3-pt shooting team. Game will be much closer this year...still a lot of question marks and the offense goes into long cold lapses. Willard is far from an offensive genius. Still expect a SHU win, but somewhere in the 5-8 point range.

Rutgers students and fans can be the difference Saturday

In last year's game at The Rock, the SHU students had an effect on the RU players, especially Mack.

We are not awful from the line, and we are not a good three point team. We have a bunch of guys who can hit it, specially isaiah, but no guys who are money. We hope singh takes that role. But carrington, Whitehead and Rodriguez can hit it.

Game will be closer this year?

Have you seen our team play? I wouldn't be sweating this one if I were you.

I suspect a closer game. Last year Daniels was out with a sprained ankle from the Vanderbilt game. We only had 2 scholarship guards, Mack & Williams and Williams had two fouls in the first 5 minutes of the game. We had to play 2 walk ons, Batie and Dadika for the next 15 minutes. The SHU press kept turning RU over and Whitehead played probably his best game of the season. SHU got on a roll hitting 3's and the game became a blowout. I think SHU has more talent but I think it could be close. RU needs to keep their composure and hopefully can pull off the upset.

my guess is whatever ills your team is suffering from this year you will have a surprising recovering on Sat. We have that effect on teams.

IF RU doesn't wilt under the pressure and shows a little maturity if should be fun and competitive...

it seems like the politicians are more interested in this game than the fans, they keep trying to create buzz and trophies but really no one cares anymore

Talk about bad luck. SHU got a real break again as our high scorer at 13 points a game will be out. They might lose Sanogo but he is only averaging 5 points per game.

Ish would be your team leader in boards and blocked shots.

Freeman is a much bigger loss to RU than Sanogo is to SHU. Freeman was a JUCO All American who can score in many ways near the basket. Sanogo is much improved but he rarely even played last year. On top of that he has not even been ruled out for Saturday yet. I would not be surprised if he plays. Many players have played with a shoulder that pops out. I had a friend many years ago who played ball for two years with his shoulder like that. Without Freeman we only have Diallo, Lewis and Foreman between power forward and center .Losing Doorson and now Freeman makes for a huge disadvantage.

Just pointing out that scoring alone does not measure the respective worth of the two players. Losing Sanogo is a loss, as is Freeman.

let's try it another way: losing Freeman for us is akin to shu losing carrington or desi

I understand the difference, I was just pointing out that we did not "catch a break" when Sanogo got injured as he is a very valuable contributor.

No doubt our team's ceiling is much higher with Freeman playing. However so far when you look at what he has done in total for us looking at both ends of the floor I don't know if his absence makes us that worse. The past few games he has been that bad on the defensive end....especially vs. Wake Forest. Statistically he is our worst defensive rebounding big man....by a wide margin.

Just my 2 cents and I know I am in the minority...I'd be in the majority if this was year 2 for Freeman (see Daniels.)

Common on GRF, Freeman is a scorer, out low post offensive option , blocks shots, and rebounds. As I pointed out in an earlier thread , he was hurt in the Wake Forest game and could not bend down or cut or move. He should have taken out by Eddie. He is a huge loss for Rutgers and it is not even debatable.
