As Hud said, you need to manage it. Every state U worth their salt is taking more money from the state than Rutgers is. If the University of Michigan can do it, Rutgers can do it. If we don't we will fail wholly and completely.

You can't have a state university not funded by the state on every level.
The states not paying for Minnesota's athletic village as far as I know and that's usually the case. Minnesota raised 76.5M privately for it and the rest 89.5M will be supplemented by athletic revenue bonds. For academics yes, for athletics I don't see too many projects that don't have a large measure of private funding and the leftover made up through athletic revenue bonds.

Well the last AD we had with political connections did pretty well.
Mixed results. Biggest accomplishment getting the stadium through but with caveat that private funding for it was very minimal. Basketball hires and contract extensions in both that and football left a lot to be desired. Most sports outside of football died on the vine.

According to some SHU posters our new AD Hobbes made an unjustifiable 2 year extension to Willard. Sounds a little too much like Mulcahy and his contract extensions to me. Both his basketball hires weren't good too.

Fundraising I hope he's able to raise the 10s of millions of dollars we need but so far I see no proof of what he did for SHU athletics in that department.
