I have to say I was SHOCKED how friendly and cordial the PSU fans were today during tailgating and at the stadium. Outside of a few drunk morons (mostly students) the fans were polite and a bunch welcomed us and thanked us for making the trip. I've read a lot of bad things on here about others experiences leading up to the game, but I have to say the PSU fans were extremely classy and I tip my cap to them. After the game, not a single PSU fan said a word to us.

Because they feel sorry for you and RU is no competition. If you want to be patted on the head as the fan of a perpetual loser who poses no threat, keep Flood as coach. Tip your cap to that.

I don't support keeping Flood. But i'm not ashamed to give their fans credit for being hospitable. Not my fault we stink now.

Not a good comparison.

Game wasn't even close. And the home team won. And there was considerably less build-up due to the neutering of the program.

Unlike last year.

Sadly there's a lot of truth to this.

Just remember how it is done. Hopefully collectively your fan base matures. I am glad that PSU won but I look forward to this game in years to come.

The game was testy because last year the programs were on even keel.

Now, we are like playing a nobody for them. The game was never in contention.

My group has a great time with all of the PSU fans we met at our tailgate & walking through the lots. There were a couple of drunken students who said a few nasty things & a student who ran through our tailgate & stole the Rutgers flag we had clamped to our tent. The psu fans around us were probably more appalled & pissed then we were.
Thumbs up to the PSU fans

Great not only does our team suck but so do our fans. Do we do anything well or even average for that matter.

I always hope our fans act respectfully. But that said we have some bad fans, sadly usually students. In terms of maturing perhaps you can talk to the PSU fan who sat in front of us at last years game and upon every first down or positive play stood up and gave the finger to the crowd with both hands. Not a student. And no one In our crowd said a word to him. No class at all. As far as State Colllege I enjoyed trips out there to hangout in town but the treatment in the stadium in the 80's was the worst - the WORST - from fans I have ever experienced at any sporting event - ever - EVER! I am glad people had a good trip to the game - its nice to hear things may have changed. But I'll pass on that experience again thanks.

Part of a maturing fan base. We came from the BE where we didn't get many visiting fans nor did we travel to in numbers to away games. Both of those things are changing. Mature fan bases have certain qualities.

I was at the game and PSU fans were very nice to me and my group. Remember last week when the Washington State fan wrote the nice letter about his great experience.

Kinda like WVirginia fans..... They came to our rivals site every year and it was a lot of fun going back and forth with them.... Mostly they were good sports because they always won

It is easy to be a good sport when you always win... I would guess we were not an intense rival in their eyes

It will be interesting to follow the PU/Maryland matchup this year, and next, etc...because Maryland has beaten them, the chances of those two developing into a decent rivalry are better than RU/PU.... More so if MAryland wins again, you can be certain PU fans start circling that game on future schedules, and the back and forth on the internet heats up.

Our best rivarlry just might be Maryland for a while, particularly if we go back and forth winning....as far as PU

We are not rivals to them at this point.

You can never determine what a drunk college student will say or do, but I expected RU fans to be treated well by most of the other PSU fan base!

our fans, especially the students have a great deal to learn. I have been to college football games across the country and have always been treated with respect and people go out of the way to welcome you. this is a game folks, its an event, it there to foster comraderie, goodwill, school spirit and loyalty. We need to play our part, shake a hand, offer directions, offer a beer...it goes a long way

I had a very good experience as I have had in the last 30 years with 8 other ru-PSU trips

There are bad apples in every single fan base. Including Rutgers and penn state. Throw in alcohol...and there is more issues

People are fine....the bad apples are the exception and not the rule
