Looks like it only took meathead Golden 5 years to figure out the obvious.

Why would you go all over the country looking for players when so many top recruits are literally just down the street?

Miami-Dade and Broward are absolute powerhouse football counties. St.Thomas Aquinas in Ft. Lauderdale had like 17 D1 players last year (we got Harris from them). It's honestly almost impossible for the U to not have a top 20 recruiting class. People DESPISE Golden in South Florida yet he still picks up 4 and 5*'s like its nothing.

Interesting that Jersey kids want to leave home but in other states they look forward to staying by home.

As someone who has lived in both states a long time, Florida is a lot easier to stay home to than New Jersey

Yeah the humidity is enticing !! And I'm aware of the love/welcome they used to give us Yanks!! Now WE outnumber them in most populated areas.

But kids are leaving NJ to go to PSU OSU and Michigan. The snow is the same or worse.
My 14 year old son said he likes it better in other states because NJ is too crowded. Look at the quotes from Bedell when he decided to leave RU. He wanted more open space. NJ is not for everybody.

Don't underestimate the geography of Florida playing a role in kids staying home. Schools like Penn State Maryland are what, 3 hours away? 3 hours of driving from Miami gets you to.......the top of South Florida. We're not locking down NJ athletes because we have subpar recruiters. Darius Hamilton, Leonte Carroo, Savon Huggins, Anthony Davis, Miles Shuler, and Kenny Britt may have something to say about this so called lack of NJ pride. If we can't lock down 1 NJ top 10 it's not because of NJ bias.

More space?
What is he gonna do with all that extra space? Farm it?
lol...Yeah my dads folks are from Prince Edward Island and they used to send me there to get me away from the city streets in the summers and thats EXACTLY what I did..bail hay, milk cows and pick crops not to mention Lobstering but as much as I loved the reprieve I missed metro NYC and my friends. In your youth to me the cities seemed more enticing IMO...Palisades Pk,see Bob Dylan in NYC's greenwich village, Bertrands Island,Seaside, camping at the Delaware Water Gap etc...we have everything a kid could want within 25 minutes right here in NJ !! I went into the USMC at 17 and was stationed in beautiful MCRDSD right next to NTC and SD's airport but after so long w/o rain I missed the Northeast. Those days you could leave your house and find a good job in 2 hours or you weren't looking...I don't know? What am I missing or are kids today that spoiled?

I wonder if Don Bedell realized how "crowded" his home state was when he commited? I think its just lip service when you realize how far down the depth chart you are. Montana and Wyoming ain't going anywhere.

Just saying the two story white building, 2nd from left with the three blue circles, is the building where the guy got chopped up in the bathtub with the chainsaw in Scarface, google it........btw, no longer a hotel, it is a Johnny Rockets now, they have a special ground beef recipe at this location [roll]
