We shouldn't forget his next stop ( South Carolina) wound up being punished by the NCAA because of what went on there during his tenure.
Minnesota ( his previous employer) also was punished by the NCAA and Lou's way of running that program played a role in the Gophers getting punished.
Arkansas never was punished because of Lou, but it was in the SWC conference where just about every school cheated one way or another and it was suggested that maybe the NCAA graded Holtz on a curve and that's why they didn't come down on the Razorbacks [roll]
He's a sought after motivational speaker and philosopher. The speech I heard him give at our museum was inspirational, moral and uplifting.
If his career truly mirrors those allegations, he's living a double life on par with Tiger Woods...lol

Talk crap on Lou Holtz all you want, but Mark May is the one who immediately jumps on any bandwagon that shows up in college football every year. I distinctly remember Mark May talking up West Virginia while downplaying his alma mater Pittsburgh in the last backyard brawl I watched.
Lou Holtz was fair and had his own beliefs and knowledge that he stuck by in college football. Mark May jumps on whatever story ESPN wants to push each year in college football.
Not to mention Lou Holtz was defending the Big East when the ship was being sunk by his own television network, and he's always been fair with Rutgers. The guy never uttered a sarcastic comment about us, when every one of those commentators on ESPN has, with the exception of Jesse Palmer.
