Is he related to Fries? You know, the 4 star number ten player in the State of NJ? He is a relatively Big Dog at 6ft 6in. and 270lbs. Do they diddle in Jersey?

No need to call him a "Dog". Pedophile Supporter, maybe, but not a dog. :)

As an aside, I know someone who works in his school, and was told that a lot of his classmates are going to Rutgers. I hope that he gets "showered" with Pedd State mockery throughout his last year in HS, it will be well earned.

Schiano was known as the biggest snake oil salesmen in the Big East, why was he ok for us?

That snake oil salesman might have had a dog house, but he truly cared for his players.
That snake oil salesman helped make RU FB a respectable program from the joke of a program it was when he took it over.
That snake oil salesman, put education and academic achievement into his RU FB program.and most RU fans appreciate that
But of course some won't see it that way because he never brought RU to the next level.

Franklin is a great recruiter and I can see why some jump to that snake oil salesman's defense.
They bought what he's selling and are more than willing to defend Penn St and Franklin at the drop of a hat.
Shame to see Schiano bashed unjustly in order to defend the Nits HC .

I wonder if those that defend all that is Penn St would put as much effort in defending RU from the PSU posters that constantly
put RU down on a Rutgers board.
Guess I missed those posts .
Heck ( probably completely mistaken) I seem to remember a poster saying they would send their kids to PSU before they'd send them to RU.
But realistically, doubt that was ever posted here by a RU supporter.

Who the hell bashed GS? The term snake oil salesmen is the highest compliment you can give a coach that out recruits you, as GS did to all those schools who referred to him as such out of pure jealousy.
I would have zero problem sending my kids to PSU, just as I would have no problem sending my kid to RU....oh yea, I do want to beat PSU in football

I will never understand why any kid with options would choose TTFP. To piggy back on the Chris Rock analogy Rutgers might not be a supermodel, but he left her and a classic beauty (UM) at home to go to the prom with a run down waffle house waitress. And before anyone gets started, I do not blame the kid I put this at the feet of the parents.

We'll just have to wait till Penn State fans aren't satisfied with fourth place behind Ohio State, Michigan, and Michigan State. After 2 to 3 more years, Franklin will be gone. Rutgers fans just have to accept 5th or 6th place unless we change our recruiting. Even superior coaching can not overcome the difference in talent.

I must have missed it. Who besides a couple of jagoffs in Syracuse and Storrs opined that Schiano was a "snake oil salesman" ?

I have no inside information, but I'm beginning to think the major difference between Schiano and Flood in recruiting is that GS was willing to tell a kid and his family "if you go to Big Time Program X out of state here are all the negative things that could happen as opposed to coming to RU". Translation...yes I think Greg negative recruited "big time" programs and Flood does not. I also think Greg was better at selling the RU program and making the kids feel they would be missing out on something special if they went out of state. But IMO I think Flood and the staff put the work in on the recruiting trail.

That's the spirit! Kid makes the decision to attend the university of his choice and of course, bring up Sandusky. Pathetic

Shocked, I say shocked, that a top tier recruit would pass on RU. 2016 will be the year Flood shows he can attract NJ's top talent. What, these are 2016 guys? I could have sworn all the sunshine pumpers were hanging their hats on the 2016's. That's right, stars are over rated. We want Rutgers men. All the coaches eating Floods lunch are snakes, slimy and liars. Every top tier recruit that Flood whiffs on ends up at a place where the Rutgers values are not exemplified. It's not Floods fault. It's not Floods fault. It's not Floods fault.

But he gets kids who Rutgers want. What side of the fence you on??
Lovable head coach who gets no big time recruits or a fraud who gets them all??

What a shock...another Top 10 NJ recruit to State Penn in Crappy Valley.

can you little cry babies let the kids play before you

nothing like self loathing at 8am to start the day

There should be a dedicated crybaby thread so the usual crybabies can post their regret and self-loathing thoughts every time a player who was not expected to commit to RU can whine and cry about Flood. It won't change anything and makes Rutgers looks small time, but hey, as long as they get to vent, that's all that matters. You want change? Stop crying and pony up $$$ to pay $5 million/year for a top tier coach and assistants. Until then, nothing will change.

Then my apologies for misunderstanding your use of "snake oil salesman" to describe Schiano, thinking your complement was an insult.
When I hear the term "snake oil salesman" being used to describe someone, I have always felt it referred to a person that is selling a product that is overhyped and of a questionable quality.

I think it was CranfordKnight that posted a while ago that he had heard from people close to the high school program that Fries' dad didn't want him going to RU. Then there was a post from someone claiming to be Fries' dad disputing that. Perhaps CranfordKnight had it right. Not ready to pile on Flood, but he has to start reeling in top NJ players. Of course I'll take a 4star from any state-but NJ is our home turf and we need to be winning more recruiting battles here.

Completely understood but directed at who, diehard fans who have had season tickets for years and donate?
Directed at the loudest crybabies who probably don't have season tickets or donate.
Your posts are always calm and rational. It is tiresome to listen to the constant bellyaching on this forum. We know nothing is going to change in a meaningful way until Rutgers sees its full B1G financial share. I don't understand the need to cry ever time a recruit does not pick Rutgers. Time would be better spent standing outside a supermarket collecting change to go to a fund to hire top tier coaches (whatever that means).

The multiple PSU/Franklin threads that permeate this board also scream "we are small time". Take care of our own issues instead of casting stones or glowing with envy. We fix out problems starting with $$$$$.

what makes a new jersey recruit better than a PA, Florida, or NY recruit? because state pride? meaningless IMO. High School coaches here don't care for us, they might make some nice comments but it means nothing. They look down on us. I'll gladly take PA and Florida kids who are just as good. Tariq Cole, 2 star NY'er who is ready to play as a redshirt Freshman. Our starting C, RG, and RT are all from outside of jersey this upcoming year. QB will be from outside Jersey, two freshman backs from outside jersey. We'll be fine with or without them.

That's ********. Some men just find the right woman and value the relationship so much that they don't seriously consider being unfaithful....despite the options. The idea that all men are equally as likely to cheat given identical options is just stupid.

Did your wife make you type that??

You ( cjrugger,) would ask a question like that.
Those like you don't seem to understand what it means to have a high moral standard.
You look at life in terms of wins and losses and nothing is more important than that win.
Cheating on your wife probably is considered a win for those like you and that's why you
feel a man that believes cheating on his wife is wrong, deserves to be insulted by you.:chairshot:

All excuses aside, Flood is simply not a good recruiter and until there is a head coaching change Rutgers will continue to miss out on top recruits with 4* ratings and above.

Don't forget - a lot of these kids didnt grow up with Rutgers football, 2006 they were in 4-5th grade, by then you already have latched on to sports teams. The kids now will grow up with Rutgers football in the Big time, we need to produce NOW so those kids grow up thinking RU is the cool place to be instead of the old traditional powers, or at least enough that that along with being able to stay close to home, gives them the shot to come here.

,
So far I've agreed with you on your views on Rutgers recruiting but I wouldn't want a fraud for a HC. I'll just just be a dreamer and hope for a good guy coach that knows how to get all the recruits

You can be a quality recruiter and not be a fraud - e.g. GS. I admire KF for many things, but he is simply not a recruiter. The approach of a HC to kids being recruited is as important as facilities etc. - my daughter is currently a rising senior being recruited in her sport - she has been contacted by many schools, but, within the universe of those schools she's considering, the way the HC approaches her and deals with her makes a big difference in her mind.

Obviously that is not KF's forte as we see over and over again these past few years.

I don't loathe myself. And everyone was so quick to beat their chests about what a great recruiter Flood is when that all went down. But now they're all quiet.

For those who purport Franklin to be some sort of "ace recruiter", can you explain his abysmal recruiting classes at Vandy (by number of stars)?

Could it be that his ability to pull in some nice recruits is more of a nod to PSU's strength as a program and brand as opposed to Franklin's supposed recruiting prowess..?

Flood is bad at recruiting. He's Terry Shea with a head start. Nobody watching for the past 3 years should be remotely surprised when players with options choose other schools. He's not gonna learn to recruit either. I'm preparing for some lean years.

I think his point is that other schools call coaches snake oil salesmen when they get out-recruited and can't figure out why. When Schiano was called a snake oil it was by schools that used to out recruit us, and no longer could once Schiano came on board.

The short version: Jealous people call HC of other schools snake oil salesmen when they're doing a good job at recruiting.

Before Franklin came to Vanderbilt, their recruiting was worse than Flood's at Rutgers. They pulled in three to five 3 stars and the rest 2 stars. When Franklin was at Vandy, he brought in four to five 4 stars with the rest 3 stars. A very sizable improvement.
