Eliminate the food source or get a good gopher trap I prefer propane and a lighter

The bait from the feed store usually works. And put down Merritt on the yard to kill the grubs.

Gophers make dirt mounds. Moles don’t.

My Rambo cat gets one now and then. He takes down birds, mice, rabbits, gophers and voles.

I think it was boxter who had the fool proof trap. You can also find one of their tunnels, poke your broom handle down into the tunnel, pour the poison granulars down the hole, cover it back up halfway. That's it. Now, when the little pricks see the light coming through the hole you made they come to do roof repairs, see the poison, take a snack, and boom....dead gopher. 60% of the time it works every time.
