Laminate (wood) flooring

Qustion-do any of you use the laminate flooring that looks like wood in your homes? Or have you looked at doing this?

I have some. Wish I didn't. Used to have wood in part of my downstairs. Had a flood. Contractor convinced me to do the entire downstairs in laminate. Looked good for a while, but where it has been scratched or dinged, it can't be fixed without replacing the whole piece of laminate.
Previously, I could just get out the little can of stain and make it look good as new.

The decorator is suggesting using some decent stuff. She's putting it in her $400k house. Im just trying to weigh The options. I'm not all that up to speed as far as what people are doing in new construction right now.

We have the distressed hardwoods and are very pleased. The dogs and kids tear it up and you'd never know.

Put in bamboo fiber flooring instead of the laminate. It's a little more expensive but you will be much, much happier.

Laminate can also be loud to walk on. As in, louder than wood. When it wears out it's hard or impossible to refinish, too.
