And he loses ... wow.

In a way pulling Hall is kind of a compliment to us. It still doesn't make me feel any better.

Bo Nickel gets a quick fall over Brooks. Brooks shot a single leg and Nickel cradled him for a 26 second fall.
McCutcheon barely beats Wilke with ridding time in second tie breaker. Wilke is a little better than I thought he was a week ago.

It appears that Stoll is out for the season. Not sure he was going to AA, but it is a blow to Iowa's National Championships hopes.

Hall won't lose to Meyer second time around imo. Penn St looks loaded once again. We're going to need a few breaks come March to snag 35.

I still really like our chances. With Stoll out it really looks like it is down to OSU and PSU. They have a hole at 33 and possibly one at 41, pokes have none. Could end up putting 8 in the semis and if Smith gets everything going could have 4-5 in finals with all 10AAs. It is optomistic, but not out of reach at all.

penn st seems to always be loaded under Sanderson
They will be much better next year and our losses will be heavy. Again it looks to me like we should redshirt everyone Smith, Fix and Gfeller because next year I don't see us in the championship picture next year. I would think Smith wrestles 65 the next year, Fix at 25 and hopefully Gfeller is at 49, with Moran or Lewallen at 41. This would likely mean Rogers and Jacoby Smith wrestle 74. Penn. St. after this year will be loaded for bear the next 2 years. We are not able to recruit consistently at Pen. St. level.

Agreed. PSU may not qualify a 133 and won't score much at 141 and only have border line AA shots at 165 and 197 IMO.

The two freshman are the wild cards for them.

May not qualify a 133? I have a better shot at succeeding Pope Francis, unless Cortez is back for Big Ten's.

I agree Joe Joe needs to redshirt along with all the true freshman next year no matter what

I think pulling Hall's shirt is absolutely a compliment to OkSt. After learning that Cortez's injury makes it unlikely he returns this year, I think the coaches believed they needed Hall to win the title, given your team's strength 1 through 10.

For the record, I'm not concerned about Hall's loss last night. I think Meyer wrestled a smart match and deserves credit, but Hall will learn from it. You all saw what he is capable of at The Scuffle.

Nonsense.

25 an improved Piccinini or Fix
33 Brock
41 Heil
49 Martinez or Jonce
57 Joe
65 Chandler
74 Smith (who I think will surprise people)
84 Marsden or Moore (could white cut?)
97 Weigel
Hvy - only real "question" to me.

No way you throw a season away with that potential roster

SHP I do not expect to see white puffs of smoke coming from the Vatican to announce your papal succession but then I never expected Donald Trump to be President.

I wouldn't be concerned with Halls loss and he is a world class talent but he is young and a bit undersized and while he has the talent to find himself in the finals, a R12 loss or loss in the quarters is very possible when dealing with true freshman. Same could be said for Cenzo.

I think for PSU it's how the two true FR fare that will be their key to winning the title.

Thanks, I needed that laugh! I'm pretty sure I fail on the first very basic requirement of becoming Pope.

I doubt it happens, but I like this lineup better:
25 - Picc (Fix should RS unless Picc outgrows the weight, IMO...not a knock on Fix, but Picc is currently the sixth ranked non-senior at the weight)
33 - Brock
41 - Lewallen
49 - Heil
57 - Martinez/Blaylock
65 - Joe Smith
74 - Rogers
84 - Jacobe Smith
97 - Weigel
285 - Andrews/Andersen

If you make that call after the tournament in March and give everyone a chance to add weight in the off-season, I think this is the best chance for the Cowboys.

If White could make 184 and wrestle competitively that would be a very good team. Somehow John seem to find a way to keep ten solid wrestlers in the lineup. Not sure who has trouble making weight an 141, but we have three solid wrestlers there. If Heil can get to 149 and Martinez or Blalock can wrestler 157 and not be undersized that is a tough lineup. PSU still has four very likely national finalists in their lineup and four more likely AA's. It is so tough to recruit those studs out of Ohio and Pennsylvania, but John has done it with success, but so has Brands.

I keep seeing White to 184 and that would be interesting, but he looks enormous at 197.

I think he looks like a small 197. Don't know if he can comfortably cut down but he sure looked smaller than Weigel and the WVU kid last night.

Do you guys think he could put on some pounds and move up and be an athletic Heavy?

how tall is he?

nathan fernandez of the land thieves several years back was a multi-sport athlete in high school and an AA at least once i think...but his short stature was a minus in his uo wrestling career. the taller heavies had too much leverage on him...

imo...same with mocco -vs- cole konrad from minny
