I am still impressed with your site. I noticed that Derek Whites matches are not reflected yet.

I am a fan of your site and it is a useful tool for the wrestling fan. Just curious why you have Derek White ranked 4th with no matches this year and the starter Preston Weigel ranked12th with a 1-0 record and round of 12 finish last year? Is it possible you have them mixed up?

Nope, any ranking they have (without having match results) is there final ranking from the previous season (or two seasons ago in the case of Conor Medberry).

Then, any ranking they receive this year will always use the preseason ranking as the "base" to determine their current season ranking.

So, for example, Derek White was #4 from last year (let's say he had an ELO of 1800....just guessing). Once he gets matches this season, his ranking/rating will move up or down FROM the 1800 value.

For wrestlers that have never wrestled a college match, their default/base is 1200, then they'll move up or down from there.

Derek White was not ranked last year whereas Preston Weigel was and he is ranked by most ranking services in the top eight. Again, do you have them confused Derek White was never ranked #4 last year, nor was he ever even ranked.

His rankings get done by the data that comes in white wasn't the starter but did well at Nebraska

He WAS ranked by WrestleStat.

WrestleStat ranks ALL wrestlers at the D1 level, whether they are redshirting or not. As long as they have match results, they will get a ranking.

Here's his profile, if you click on "Rank History" tab, you can see all of his past rankings.
