Game Thread: Northwestern vs. Miami (Ohio)

[zeek55]

Thumbs up to year one of the Braun/McGarigle physical defense experience. This is physical, Patty Fitz NU defense

Yeah McGarigle has picked up right where Braun left off from last year. Perfect transition to this point.

This Miami team will put up points in the MAC.

TNT! Love it!!!

[phatcat_rivals223240]

Im greedy. I want more points!

I just want a win. Notice we are already stepping in dog crap

[TheC]

Hah! Why don't you say that more often? Now call the touchdown play on offense!

Didn’t feel it

[TheC]

We have a kicking game?

[AdamOnFirst]

Can’t start the back slapping just yet

[phatcat_rivals223240]

Stillwell Angel just arrived

Watching late night from London after signing up for Hulu Live TV and spoofing my location and I just have to say this stadium looks amazing.

[LakefillLobster]

Jeez, some awful announcing there. Byington said Miami could tie it on this drive? Also, why the hell is Miami going for it?

[TheC]

Lisa must think Miami is breaking out the 10 point play here

It's really cool. Sight lines bad and nothing on the scoreboard except the score.

Going for it is probably right, IMO. Get within 3. But I could see it either way.

[NU Houston]

Went from a missed sack to a difficult pass completion and roughing the passer penalty. Can't have that.

[TheC]

Need a score here

[phatcat_rivals223240]

Coco hurt on KOR. Oh no

[AdamOnFirst]

Wright makes the simple read option game very scary

[NU Houston]

Why did Wright toss the ball out of bounds on first down? It stopped the clock.

[AdamOnFirst]

Well ****

[TheC]

Crap. Door is now open.

[NUCat320]

Well this is unexpectedly interesting. Harumph.

[TheC]

Need a play

[TheC]

Damn! We need a sack!

[LakefillLobster]

Mueller time, methinks.

[NU Houston]

Two minute warning in college football is weird.

[AdamOnFirst]

IMO gotta consider going for it on that fourth down but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

[TheC]

We need to blitz this guy. He’s just sitting back and finding the holes

[TheC]

YES!!!

[NUCat320]

Need a play

…yes?

[LakefillLobster]

THE GHOST OF FITZ

[AdamOnFirst]

Play. Makers.

[AdamOnFirst]

Get the offensive mistakes cleaned up and there is a squad here.

[NU Houston]

Its not over. Miami has three timeouts.

[TheC]

…yes?

Need a million bucks!

[AdamOnFirst]

MAN is Mike wright an athelete

[eddie_gocats]

[NUCat320]

Victory formation out of the shotgun, we hope?

[TheC]

Practicing the kneel down play.

[NU Houston]

Taking snaps with the center during the timeout. Geez, I guess it's necessary.

[zeek55]

Fantastic Pick to win it.

This is a quality win. I expect this Miami team to win the MAC and put up a lot of points on MAC defenses; our defense is legit. McGarigle picked up nicely from Braun in his first outting as DC.

We saw some real flashes of brilliance from Wright though the offense is going to be a work in progress. But still the upside is there; he's able to evade defenders and has speed. Wright + Porter should be a solid combo out there on the ground.

Kirtz deserves a shoutout too; great to see him have a big game.

[eddie_gocats]

Fitz for the win… oops!
