This q is probably more for Louie and team.

Has anyone checked in with the coaches to see if there is a strategy to any potential Colorado transfers?

Are there any that we are looking at?

Colorado at least was playing a pac 12 schedule last year. Yes the team was bad, but there must be a few quality players in the mass exodus and at least some that could get into NU.

Is it an issue that most of the transfers have multiple years of eligibility?

I imagine most of these guys read the writing on the wall. Coach Prime brought in a ton. This is culling the roster.

That wasn’t my question.

I’m wondering if any of these players. With multiple years of eligibility left are players fitz would want.

Most of the transfers he targets are grad transfers or one year players. A couple have had 2 years of eligibility.

Much of the At has to do with talent and being able to get past admissions.

Colorado was the worst team in P5, and Deion is shoving out the bottom half of their roster. I’d be very surprised if any of those guys get interest from other P5 schools.

Just because the team was bad doesn't mean all the individual players leaving were bad. We just had 4 guys drafted from a 1-11 team.

What a great strategy: let’s go get the kids that played on a 1-11 team that was probably worse than we were last year and that Prime didn’t want on his team.

And yet our three win saw two drafted in the first round and four drafted. I see your point…

Peter S, the 11th pick in the draft, played on our lousy team last year. Just because a team sucks doesn't mean that there aren't good players on it.

Don’t love what’s going on here - at Colorado specially and cutting more broadly - but this detail does make me more ok with it. Still sucks for the kids but at least they have the option to stay.

“ The NCAA rule says you can have those discussions. If a student-athlete wants to stay, they can stay. The university has to pay for them, they don't count on your scholarship limits and they're not on the team.”

“ there are four players who decided to stay at Colorado on scholarship but aren't with the team, and George confirmed the university will pay for their education.”

If they stay and are not on the team should count against the scholarship limit (i.e. Johnny Vassar).

When you’re hired to clean up a mess, you clean it up. Prime is cleaning out the dead weight and bringing in some kids who can play. He’s in major rebuild mode and looks to be doing a good job so far.
At the end of the day, Buff’s success the first year will be on the shoulders of Primes son at QB.

It might take few recruiting cycles, but Prime will turn Colorado into a winner.

If nothing else, Colorado football will be fascinating to watch this fall. If it works, you’ll have dozens of teams copying Sanders’ blueprint over the next few years.

Colorado’s losing a bunch of good players but it looks like they’re replacing them with more highly rated players.

According to the crystal ball site, they have three 4 star recruits and one five star recruit joining this fall.

They also have 47 transfers joining the team, including thirteen 4-5 star players.

I’ll be looking forward to seeing how it all plays out. It could be a resounding success or a complete disaster. I’ll be watching either way…until I get bored and move on to the next novel thing.

There is no way Deion is going to be at Colorado in four years. If things go well he will take off for a Power 5 school or quit when things aren't going well.

That will be an interesting trick if dozens of schools are copying this process in a few years.
Since the entire process first begins with hiring Deon Sanders unless someone has a cloning machine it seems to me that it will be difficult for more than one team to do this at a time.

Weird take but ok.

Why does it have to be Sanders? It could could be any coach at a school with boosters willing to bankroll a super team. Get rid of half the roster and replace with better players who want to make more NIL money than they are currently making.

You think what is going on at Colorado starts with NIL money?

Sanders is a household name to many of these families. I am not sure Johnny No Name Coach has the cache to get it done like this. Plus it is likely to have varying degrees of success. Might work a few times and be a disaster a few other times. Tough having turnover like this and immediately turning it around.
