As I understand it, the only reason Sanders was permitted to do this is because he is a first year coach. Pursuant to NCAA rules, again as I understand it, only first year coaches are permitted to do this. Thus, NU could not do this even if Fitz wanted to. Anybody here have a contrary understanding?

Sanders is a household name to many of these families. I am not sure Johnny No Name Coach has the cache to get it done like this. Plus it is likely to have varying degrees of success. Might work a few times and be a disaster a few other times. Tough having turnover like this and immediately turning it around.
Bingo!
Which is exactly the point I was trying to make.

I don't know about recruiting players from high school but just looking at who has transferred in and out of Colorado the players look to be a little better. It's mostly 3 stars with a few 4 stars and a 5 star. The schools with players transferring to Colorado are: Florida State, Auburn, Ole Miss, Oregon, Maine, Liberty, Washington, Washington State, Houston, Southern Utah, Baylor, Alabama, Missouri, Tennesse, and Old Dominion.

Not bad but not exactly great either.

Their transfers are a lot better than the ones coming in for us on the whole.

This thread and CSC showed a lot of good athletes came out of Colorado and fitz landed none.

What you will never hear this year is the number of scholarship recruited players we have. Why? Because it’s ridiculous. But the team season results will distract from that point anyway.

Colorado was the worst team in P5, and Deion is shoving out the bottom half of their roster. I’d be very surprised if any of those guys get interest from other P5 schools.

Surprise. 14 got much more than interest from P5 schools.

I think 14 out of 59 shows Colorado was devoid of much talent. I don’t care for the way Sanders kicked them to the curb, but in this new college world of basically free transfers, players should expect some pressure if they in fact don’t contribute to making the team a winner.

Say what you will about nepotism with Coach Prime naming his son the starter for CU before he even got on campus, but the kid just set the CU single game passing yards record and against a ranked team on the road, to boot. 81% completions!

That was an entertaining game . Both teams had exciting offenses. Bring back NU 2000- forget complimentary football

Colorado is going to a big factor in college football this year. Prime just needs one more recruiting cycle to get the defense he needs and then Buffs will be a top 10 team. Not easy rebuilding both sides of the ball in 6 months, but he’s got 75% of it done already.

PS. His son is an absolute beast.

PSS. Anyone who criticized coach Prime for cleaning out the losers in that program is an idot.

I’ll reserve judgment after seeing some sustained success but it is impressive since I don’t think he has a full roster. Although that could mean depth is an issue going through the full season. Boulder should be a pretty attractive place to recruit to.

CU made offense look simple. WRs watched QB and Broke patterns and created huge gaps to exploit
I watched Rice and their offense looked like ours
