Threw the ball away effectively instead of forcing it. He's doing well. Definite improvement
Still needs more reps to throw some balls before the receiver makes his break. Missed some open guys because he waited just a little too long, allowing the defender to catch up, but he's making some nice throws like that big third and 17 pickup to Stephon that started our second TD drive.
He's been pretty good given the circumstances, though there were 1-2 gimmes that Rutgers just missed. He throws an absolutely beautiful deep ball
I’m excited he was our number three QB. Our talent isn’t the main problem. Will be interesting when Marty comes back.
Ironically we have two 5 star QBs on our roster (HJ and RH), but the best one may be Marty and he's injured. This is the most arm talent we've probably ever had in the QB room, but it's such a mental position.
Keep him healthy for next three years! How was he third in depth chart is beyond me!
Is it me or has he lucked out? Had a pick six dropped a few weeks ago in his first start, and a couple yesterday. Maybe 3-4 could be INTs that Rutgers players just didn't convert on.
Well, everyone needs a little luck. IDRC as long as he keeps avoiding any INTs and keeps playing solidly and improving every week like he has.
yeah some luck. I think the missed pick six was deflected at the line and then by the WR or something. The 3rd and 17 from Robinson looked like it went right between the RU DB's hands like goalposts. I'll take some luck at this point. He's also done a decent job avoiding the rush and throwing it away effectively
Luck is definitely a part of it. But he also hasn’t had the kind of awful, inexcusable streak of errors that Hunter had in the first half of the Duke game. I had really thought (ok, hoped) that Hunter had matured and gotten over his mental issues this year. Unfortunately, he hasn’t. Thus, our most physically gifted QB ever is riding the bench. Hilinski doesn’t have the same door speed or arm strength, but he’s doing well and getting better each week.
In his year at South Carolina he had very few picks, a little better than one every 90 passes. By contrast, Ramsey averaged one every 38 throws last year.
He has had some near misses, but has been pretty careful. At this point, he has 5 career interceptions on 511 passes.

I would imagine that what got HJ a permanent seat on the bench was the turnovers. Fitz will put up with a lot on O, but his ball-control strategy can't succeed with turnovers. RH has been a noticeable improvement on this front.

Off platform throws are always going to be part of the game, especially with a questionable offensive line.
It seems like he is being allowed to throw a larger variety of routes than the other 2, some of which could be higher risk passes.
I particularly like the one where it goes "throw it in the general direction of Stephon Robinson as he is likely to catch it, regardless"
The throw to JJ in the fourth quarter that led to the clinching score was on a rope in a pretty tight window and it looked like a second or third option! More of that, please.
I saw a few instances where Hilinski threw off his back foot, but not nearly as often has HJ did. In general, I think RH steps into his throws more decisively than Hunter did, who always seemed to be back-pedaling away from pressure, instead of stepping up into the pocket.
That was my biggest concern during/after the MSU game. He showed that trait in 2019 and never fixed it.
Agreed, but my bigger problem is that he doesn't seem to be good at them. He is very good though when given time. Will be interesting to see how it plays out on Saturday against a tougher DL and in the ensuing weeks.
Both. Robinson's stuff outside, they had no answer for him. Malik W's TD was sort of a post and he knocked the safety on his a$$ en route. Jefferson's long gain was crossing over the middle. Other than that it was a bunch of short stuff.
That was my favorite play of the game. It was more like Malik tackled him and then said bye bye.
