Wow. Just...wow...

I need to temper my enthusiasm for this season by reminding myself that this is Maryland that we beat. However, just the variety and creativity in play-calling gives me so much hope for the season, as well as validation for my long-standing feeling that McCall was the problem all along. That would be enough by itself, but seeing Bowser and Anderson both run well, Ramsey looking sharp, and the defense performing even better than expected...yeah, just wow...

Go Cats!

I know folks were happy w WR and chirping about separation. But almost half the receptions went to non-WRs. And I thought some of those WR receptions were great throws, great catches or both.

So I’m still not sold on Springer. I am sold on Ramsey. And I’m loving the OL. And the RBs. But I still think WRs are the weakest link and would like to see a change away from springer.

Really... going to complain about a coach after NU’s biggest Big Ten blowout since 1970? Really?

I agree. I don't think the improvement in the passing game has anything to do with Springer suddenly learning how to coach up our WRs - I think that is a function of Bajakian's play-calling and offensive philosophy.

I loved the game tonight. I was really worried after half the team was listed inactive. And Ramsey is the real deal. Actually, so was the OL. And the RB group.

The DL got some good pressure - I thought at least two holding calls were missed. The departed DBs stepped it up. And the LBs poor it together - though a quiet night for Paddy.

And Kuhbander? Who is the guy kicking?

But I teach and I teach teachers. And I profess that love sessions don’t bring growth. When we debrief, we acknowledge positive contributions - I require it. But we also point out an area for development - I require it - is how we grow and get better.

Great opening night. Still not sold on Springer. Still would like a change I notice how recent changes have really made a difference. I want one more.

Was this the most unexpected season-opening result since Air Force in 2002, but in such a nicer way?

I might put the Western Michigan opener in there. That loss looked much better in retrospect, but I didn’t expect it at the time. And I am always oddly confident against Stanford. I mean, it’s Stanford.

Wayne Dennis should've caught that.

I think he knows that, too. Plenty disappointing, cause Ramsey just erased another 3rd and long. Just his second opportunity, I think, and it speaks well about his ability that he's getting PT.
