Not surprised the consensus is that they are playing “against Oklahoma” And not NU next week

It’s not about whether or not they win it’s about how much they win by and whether Texas beats Oklahoma

And we are NW

Hopefully the players share even a modicum of this arrogance and overlooking of the cats.

Fitz Will have lots of ammo for playing the disrespect card this week

Correction: we are jNWU, not NU. And they’re right.

OSU is right to look ahead. Our defense is soft and doesn’t hit anyone or stop anybody. We rushed for 8 yards total against 7-5 Michigan State and have no offense (Clayton Who-son??). Our specials teams are anything but and will surely muff the ball on every play.

OSU’s head coach is a morally upright & perfect citizen. The B1G is so lucky & blessed to have the Buckeyes grace our presence for 9 games a year: we are not worthy. They should have received the championship trophy in advance at their preseason media day, it was decided then.

There’s nothing to see here, OSU. Your true opponent is Alabama or Clemson in the next game. Nerdwestern is just as bad as we were in the 80s! Please take it easy on our Mildcats. As long as you check into your hotels and show up at Lucas Oil on Saturday, the championship is yours. Nothing to see here. Just please don’t hurt any of our players, they mean well and signed up only for the degree.

We play school, not football.

Ohio State has beaten us 30 of the last 31 times they've played us.

Other than giving them a couple of scares, we've only drawn blood once in the lifetimes of most Ohio State fans.

That's why we need some wins off of them. Michigan, Penn State, ND fans know what it's like to lose to us.

Iowa, Wisconsin, Michigan State fans have faced many losses to us the past 25 years.

Ohio State fans treat us like another Big Ten team that they just beat every time they see us. This is the kind of game where we can change that.

Trying not to build this game up, but it's hard. The stakes are just sky high, though the future is bright on December 2 no matter what happens.

I do think it's correct to note that Ohio State is the one team that we just haven't made "aware" of our arrival onto the college football scene.

Only Penn State, Michigan State, and Wisconsin have taken big games off of Ohio State in the last 10-15 years in the Big Ten.

Games with implications like this week, only those 3 programs have beaten the Buckeyes.

We can join them as the 4th...; that's what's at stake.

The rest of the Big Ten, whether Michigan (1-14) or Iowa or Purdue or whoever, really hasn't beaten them in games with the biggest implications, though I guess we could say the lopsided Iowa/Purdue defeats may keep them out of the playoffs. But for Iowa/Purdue, those games didn't have any real weight.

Penn State, Michigan State, and Wisconsin have beaten Ohio State when the Big Ten championship is on the line or something equivalent to that for both teams.

That's what's on the table for us.

It's not just about getting respect, though I emphatically agree with everything you're saying. There is some absolute loathing at play too.

About how they run their program, cheating, stealing, killing, whatever. And how we run ours. Like a beacon of good. This is our chance to show the world that you can win and not have to sell your soul to do it. That good can triumph over evil.

Not sure about the good vs evil argument. At the end lf the day these are 18-22 year olds playing football.

It would be a monumental upset that would be talked about on national circuits for a few days, but nothing more. In fact the story would probably be more about Harbaugh getting trounced by an OSU team that got beaten by Northwestern.

No, it would very much change our recruiting narrative at a minimum.

Greetings from Sidney, OH (aka Bowserland)

Count me as one OSU fan who is not dismissive. We have played like garbage more often than not throughout the year against inferior opponents especially defensively. The LB's are soft and the secondary still doesn't know how to look for the ball in coverage which leads to numerous PI calls. I would not be surprised at all if this game was close or even if the Cats pulled it off.

It's going to be an especially fun game to watch for us Sidney folk. I was on here singing the praises of Isaiah before he set foot on campus. It's been amazing to watch him break out so early in his career at NU. We've had to set up multiple TV's to watch both OSU and Northwestern at the same time.

Many people already have tickets to Indy and will likely be wearing both scarlet and purple. Should be fun!

Welcome. There was a nice story on Isaiah and Sidney in the Daily Northwestern. He is a great kid and has really made a huge difference at the end of the season...and he's only a true freshman. He has an amazing future ahead of him in football and after.

Sidney can be Evanston's sister city for as long as Bowser plays here.

He's been incredible; right when our need was greatest (losing Larkin to medical retirement), he picked the whole team up and has played as well as any true freshman RB that we've had.

It's going to be a ton of fun to watch his career here the next 3 years.

The people of Sidney are the exception; we can welcome them with open arms. Bowser carries their flag and ours when he plays.

I just read the comments over on the Buckeye blog on Fitz's conference yesterday, and there wasn't much dismissiveness, but rather tons of respect for Fitz and fears that he's going to get this team up for a battle:

https://www.elevenwarriors.com/ohio...n-calls-ohio-states-offense-scary-and-accepts
Liked this one:

The FBS landscape is rife with coaches who are complete douche-nozzles.

Fitz ain't one of 'em. I can't think of a way you don't absolutely love this guy; what he's accomplished, with what he has to work with.

That said, pummel those slide-rule bastards in Indy.

Poster is showing his age.....no one under 50 even knows what a slide rule is!!

Most Ohio State fans that I've seen have been respectful of us while acknowledging that they're the favorite.

I think we all understand this is a matchup between two relatively inconsistent teams, one with a much higher ceiling than the other.

All comes down to which teams of our show up on Saturday.

Actually, a UK fan, but I call them as I see them.
So.., I have seen a few bowl projections with NU v UK in Florida (Citrus/Outback). Nothing against UK, but who would want to see a replay of last year’s MCB? Is there a great desire for a rematch among the blue Wildcats?

If it meant playing in the Citrus or Outback then heck yeah, but most UK fans would love to play OSU, even though OSU would roll UK.
