I’ll never understand why coaches lie like that.

Brohm is lying. Most likely a negotiating ploy for more $$$$$

They’re likely fully aware, but can’t do anything about it.
Right, so why not leave it at no comment and move on? Or “we’re focused on going 1-0 this week”? I know you don’t want the rumor mill to keep spinning but lying seems to always be a bad look.

Brohm has already proven himself capable of spinning the Tennessee interest/non-interest to his benefit. Not sure why one would expect anything else in this scenario.

You think Purdue doesn’t know he’s negotiating with UL?
What can Purdue do?

He's going to be in line for either a massive raise at Purdue or he's leaving for Louisville or a blueblood.

They have no choice. They can't give him an ultimatum because he has all the leverage. Coaches who are considered "hot" in this sport have all the leverage compared to the schools; that's why you end up with such ridiculously bloated contracts with massive buyouts that are fully guaranteed.

Brohm sounds like a guy who has one foot out the door. Notice how careful he’s being with his words.

Anything except “I’m not leaving Purdue. I’m staying” means he is still open to leaving and probably will.

Blueblood programs aren’t exactly lining up to hire Brohm after a couple 5-win seasons.

I’m sure some D1 programs are looking at Brohm as a possible replacement, but bluebloods they are not.

They can't offer him a better package?
Seems to me he could have a nice Louisville offer and is waiting to see what Purdue is going to do about it.

Just meant that they’re likely aware of Louisville’s interest and cannot do anything to stop him or his reps from talking to them.

Correct, the #4 team in the nation that has an inside shot at the college football playoff and ironically handed Northwestern it’s only conference loss in what seems like 10 years is not looking to hire Brohm.

Good job.

I think the reference was to Michigan’s interest in Fitz despite mediocre results at NU to that point.

Michigan has had a couple questionable coaching searches.

-Brady Hoke still baffles me. Hiring a guy to a major Power 5 program when he only had 2 winning seasons in like 7 years at Ball State.

I should change my screen name to Guess I was right. I knew you were a Michigan puke when you came over all innocent looking for tickets. Good luck beating dOSU for the 2nd time in 15 years

Came over looking for tickets? I bought tickets from a NU season ticket holder two weeks prior to the game.

In addition, I believe I explicitly mentioned being a Michigan fan several times throughout my posts.

Top notch detective work, though. Scotland Yard have any openings?
