Wow, Kelly really came down hard! Kicked out 2 seniors who were not expected to contribute. Kept the 4 underclassmen.

From ESPN:
Redfield had been a highly coveted recruit out of Mission Viejo, California, in 2013, but he never lived up to the high school hype. Though a returning starter at free safety, Redfield was coming off a sour end to the 2015 campaign when he was sent home from the Fiesta Bowl for what he had said was a failure to be punctual. He was the Irish's fourth-leading tackler last season.

Butler was expected to miss at least the first month of the season after suffering a broken left foot in the summer -- the same foot he broke prior to last year's Fiesta Bowl. He appeared in 37 games over his first three college seasons, starting three.

Huh. Redfield was a starter and had 3 interceptions last year. He was going to play and play a lot. What exactly did you want him to do? The kid in the altercation is suspended indefinitely. The underclassmen were basically busted for weed. So is weed a big deal or not in the grand scope of things? Didn't sound like you thought it was a major offense. I am not a big fan of Kelly's in game coaching, but feel this was handled appropriately!

This kind of gun culture you describe is foreign to me, so I'll take your word for it. And let me know which bars you're talking about so that I can avoid them - alcohol and guns are not a nice combination for either male or female. Yikes.

I don't get the part about carrying an unloaded gun, does that mean you're hunting for a target? To me a loaded gun would be more effective for that purpose.

I still don't know why football players driving around in rural Indiana need a loaded handgun for defensive purposes. It's not exactly Bagdad or Syria.

In the event of sudden, dairy cattle stampedes during their migrating season ..........?

If you feel the need to keep a gun for protection you keep it loaded if you are carrying it because you don't know when you will need it. If you are headed to do some business you might not load it until you reached your destination.

But if you grew up in a neighborhood that was like Bagdad or Syria you don't just stop one day cause your suddenly in a "safe " neighborhood.

America isn't a lovely place to live for everyone.

Wonder if the car would have been pulled over at all if the players weren't African-Americans. Thought conceal and carry was legal in Indiana. And is possession of marajuana more than a misdemeanor?

Concealed carry is legal in Indiana, as it is in Illinois, Wisconsin, Iowa, Ohio, Michigan, Minnesota, and every other state.

What is NOT legal is possession of a loaded handgun without a license.

These guys are so totally stupid, it is beyond belief. They are very lucky they are still alive. Oh yeah, illegal possession of a firearm is a FELONY!

Somewhere along the line, when this event came out as well as the policeman being battered, the policy at TSISB was mentioned as "dismissal from the university if a student is charged with a felony". And hitting a police officer is listed as a felony. If the reported policy is, indeed, true, isn't Butler being dismissed from the university a foregone conclusion?

I would think that would be the end result, but they would need to complete there due diligence.

What needs to be considered in all of this is that Indiana is a seriously f*cked up place. God, I hate Indiana!
