I do not believe this has been discussed (please forgive me if that's not the case), and I have no inside info whatsoever.....

But could Fitz be waiting until after signing-day to announce staff changes? Wouldn't that make sense if some of the position coaches on the chopping block are lead recruiters?

I would be amazed if you could find any facet of this topic that has not been discussed. Yes, this has been discussed. General consensus was that such a deliberate bait-and-switch would run counter to Fitz's standard operating procedure. There were, of course, minority opinions on the matter.

Has Fitz ever fired anyone on his staff? Was Colby fired?

I think more than likely NU is waiting for "perfect storm" replacements on the offensive side. It is what we saw in BB. Carmody was allowed to continue on a short contract to keep the program stable until a high quality replacement who was willing to take on the special challenges of NU was found. There is evidence that stability is good for a program and I don't think there will be change just for changes sake no matter how that would look like progress to the outside. We won't see anyone leave until they have found a replacement.
