Comparable to Mizzou worse than Alabama. In that league though. Yet again, I recommend WATCHING NUS DEFENSE in a game (I recommend Stanford or Duke). They have full games on YouTube. If you watch that and don't think, our defense is one of the best in the nation you don't know football. So your D is better than Florida, Alabama, Georgia and Mizzou, all top 10 in total defense and ranked higher than NU? None of them shut us down.
UTVolman99:Then you are a blind moron. Sorry to resort to name calling but your comments are asinine.
Hey Coach, you gonna answer my other question?
Glad I am staying in Tampa for a few days after the game. The trash talk either way will be unbearable. Pretty sure you'll be a gem if UT wins.
LOL.... You think NU is gonna score 24 on Tenn when they only did that 3 times all year vs P5 teams and none of those teams had a winning record. LMAOComparable to Mizzou worse than Alabama. Alabama held you to 14. Mizzou held you to 19. NU 24 UT 17 seems about right to me. Could it be UT 17 NU 10? It's possible. Could UT break one or two huge plays and hit 24 or 28? You're a big play team, so yeah, but so is Stanford and McCaffery had 56 yards and Stanford to 6 points.
Florida has superior athletes but they don't play disciplined. It was also early in the season. UTs offense takes advantage of defenses that don't have discipline. NU is disciplined and the team keeps growing week by week and getting better. They've also had lots of time to prepare specifically for Tennesseee
24 seems about right. Could be 23 like against PSU. Damn kicker missing PATs! Or it could be 23 like we would've scored against Stanford if our DB didn't kneel down on the game clinching INT's return instead of taking an easy TD. Maybe it'll be 26 like we would've scored against Duke but we took a knee again instead of taking the easy TD.LOL.... Holy ****... I've never seen so many if and buts in one post. LMFAO. I bet you were a play or two away from beating Michigan and Iowa too.24 seems about right. Could be 23 like against PSU. Again, congratulations on your moral victories this year. You're going to get another one on Friday. Then you're going to brag to all your friends about almost beating an 11-2 team in a bowl game.

I agree with this.Tenn is the clear favorite ... anything more than a touchdown favorite is a clear favorite. For whatever its worth - Tenn may be better - but NU is within the turnover margin; NU plays mistake free and Tenn tosses a pic 6 - NU has a chance... Key is Q1 start - if Tenn doesn't score early - NU will hang for 4 Quarters
Maybe so but he's been ripping vol posters about how close we've been, then throws out all them ifs and buts about NU. Can't have it both ways.I know Shakes is mostly looking to stir up trouble, but those "if's" are actually pretty legitimate.
Nice deflection. I bet you played DB in high school seeing how well you backpedal, coach.I've never seen a guy talk so much crap without even bothering to WATCH A GAME!

Banished forever might be a tad extreme. Why not just a simple public caning?K... 24-17 cats win. When it happens, your banished forever

I understandThe difference is that those plays wouldn't have made a difference between winning and losing, only in our margin of victory or points scored.
I think you're understating NU's chances, Toledo. Obviously you always want to win the TO battle - and NU has typically done that - but NU could win with an even ratio as well.Tenn is the clear favorite ... anything more than a touchdown favorite is a clear favorite. On my long list of worries is CT throwing against more athletic corners than he has seen from anyone other than his own team and Michigan. The alternative is to keep protecting him and put the game on JJs shoulders which makes us one dimensional. I think CT needs to complete some passes downfield for us to win this game. I really see this as a one score game. I can't see more than 35 or so points - my expectation is 17-14 or 13-10 or a result along those lines. Field position, running game, punting game, occasional big plays, turnovers, return game, making kicks will be the key. You know, like every game UT and NU played this year.
I really don't think that anyone on the NU side is overly confident here.

This is the same thing Tenn has to do. We like to swing it out to the RB's and run short (15yds or less) to the WR. Bubble screens and quick slants is our game. Which I don't get because Dobbs best throws are across the middle. On my long list of worries is CT throwing against more athletic corners than he has seen from anyone other than his own team and Michigan. If we win this game, I think it will look more like the Nebraska win than the Stanford win.I think Tenn can get to 24pts. Tenn played 4 teams ranked top 10 in total D and averaged 25pts a game. Only one time this year Tennessee was held to less than 19pts.
I agree. No knock on NU but at times Tenn has made ok offenses look like Baylor on speed. We'll look dominant for 4-5 series in a row and then the other teams scores 14 straight. If we win this game, I think it will look more like the Nebraska win than the Stanford win.

Don't blame your finger. Take full credit. It will score huge point around here if you mock the Illini. You can blame the misplelling on my hotdog fingers typing on my iPhone instead of my wit.

Half the posters on here right now are Vol fans.On my own board?
Did you quote this right. You have a good chance tomorrow. NW is a good team.UTVolman99:
You were wanting an example. This is in response to a post stating that
1. UT was not unbeatable.
2. That our defense could shut you down IF they played well for four quarters.
3. And that our young quarterback should play better than previous outings.
This gentleman is obviously insulted that we believe we have any chance in this game.
You're kidding yourself if you think you are anywhere near Bama on D. Same with UF.Comparable to Mizzou worse than Alabama. In that league though. Bump. There's no rationalization or cockiness from me... Only confidence. We have an elite defense that is geered to shutting down the run... And is especially talented as stopping the spread type runs that Tennessee employs. If Tennessee can run, their offense will fall apart.
Defensively, Tennessee has gotten worn down late in games. That's because the great Tennessee pass rushers get tired after being hit by 300lbs oline man all day. I'm running at Barnett all day and focus wearing him down. Wanna know how I know this? Because I watched 6 Tennessee games on YouTube. We also are going to be better on offense. That's what happens when a RS freshman who was splitting reps with 2 very different guys up until the start of the season is taking a vast majority of your snaps. You give him a month of being the starter. You give our OC a month to tailor the offense to him. He's going to be better and our offense will be better.
I'm not going to be intimidated by Tennessee, the SEC, or a giant fan base. Guess how many teams we've beaten this year with bigger fan bases, better tradition... 7 of our 10 wins. How did we do against the SEC the last couple times we played? We won those. Tennessee also didn't beat the top SEC teams.... Or the 2nd tier either. You can't intimidate me and the team won't be intimidated either even if some posters on here lack the faith in the program.
Do i give Tennessee no chance? Of course not. Tennessee is a big play team on offense and special teams. You get off to a quick start, it could be a long day. 70% cats 30% vols makes sense to me.
