Apparently Anthony Walker = Chris Spielman.

I'd settle for Pat Ftizgerald.

Last time I checked Spielman was never selected as a two time college football defensive player of the year. I'd be ecstatic with Walker matching the exploits of his head coach, I'd settle with him becoming as good a college linebacker as Chris Spielman was.

As i said on the show, the only other freshman mlb i could compare his 2015 play with was Speilman since he was the only mlb i have ever seen in person (against #1 Iowa at ohio stadium). Im ignorant of Fitz freshman and sophmore years. Hopefully we can make comparisons with walker and fitz when anthony is a senior but he has alot of work before we compare his junior or senior play to an all american year for Fitz.
That said, as i said on the show, mark it down, walker (texas ranger...+1 for TJ) will have the All time TFL record here fellas! i wouldnt be surprised if he breaks daileys single season mark either but that will b tough.

Kindly go back and listen again corbi. It was a reference to a freshman chrisspielman. I simply cant compare a freshman walker to a freshman fitz since i wasnt a nu fan in fitz' early years. However there is most likely no comparison unless fitz was a helluva freshman. Re-listen to the comment....comparing freshmen.

Thanks roni. I appreciate CJ and TJ having me. And i enjoyed being a part of the preview and unit grading.

You go game by game and come up 8-4. They you close by saying 7-5. You're right, you're not great with numbers.

That was awesome to hear. Thats a big jump and i think we are goin to need him against stanford.
Yeah ive never been accused of being a spelling champ, and its tough counting when you gotta total everything up and then figure out whats goin on.

Thanks for the report but is Oliver really back in the mix? I'm confused.

Seems like the last thing we need. Not sure to believe your report that he is still in learning, or a few others on here saying his progress has been great. I remain interested in the reason why you indicate that he won't get all of the snaps, but at least two on this board guaranteed that he is the man, and that McCall himself said Thorson is the guy this year. In my opinion, we need to stick with one QB and I wish Fitz would get away from talking about a 2 QB system. Haven't we seen too much of this already?

I'm holding out hoping that Fitz is just being coy and that Thorson will be our starter, and get all of the snaps. If he doesn't have a handle on the offense then I can live with growing pains this year in hopes of better years ahead. What do we get with Oliver? Even if we get one more win with Oliver this year, that doesn't do a thing for next year.

Come on Turk, a little more love for the Oline, please. lol
Looks like you are going to be surprised this year because I know the Oline will be better than your C-.
Good analysis by CJ as always.
Bro, the OL has to do it on the field. Someone there has to step up [hint hint].

Your last sentence bothers me because I don't think Fitz' decision is based on that. Like I said on the show, I think Thorson will get the start and reps at QB but not because of him being any future project, but rather that he gives us the best chance at a win, now. And CJ's comments that Oliver isn't even on the leadership council may be telling.

We have such a strong running game, maybe Oliver won't hurt us too much. Still,I'd like to see Thorson out there if he can sling the ball. Oliver has a cannon of an arm though. He may be best best till Thorson is ready to go. Get Alviti in there on running plays.

That one more W, might get NU a bowl invite.

Exactly! It's silly to think that Fitz will be playing for next year. And at the same time, give Thorson credit if he starts because he isn't entitled to it and he wouldn't be getting the start as a future hedge. Today is the day to win. An extra win, if that's Oliver, Thorson, or Alviti, will most likely be a bowl game or a better bowl game, and would provide some much needed relief from possible assistant coach changes if we don't go bowling.

I certainly enjoyed listening to the Turk. He was cruising right along until he tried to pronounce Odenigbo. I was glad that he did not try to spell it. I look forward to next weeks podcast when he will be pronouncing Igwebuike.

Their first names are easier to say and not so complicated. TJ Jones seemed a lot higher on Godwin than me. I mean I think Godwin is a real solid player but TJ equated him to Walker as someone who he'd like to see in my Top 10 players and a player who has a knack for the ball.

Just curious as to why are you and the other insiders penciling in Jones at starting LB?

Turk, Enjoyed the podcast. Put me in the Godwin camp. Not only does he have a nose for the ball, but the kid is a HITTER. Check out the lick he puts on Stave as he tries to scramble for a third down in the win over Wisconsin. He's like a heat seeking missile. I actually think he can be better than Campbell, who was a big hitter himself.l

I fully agree. Ive never seen such a solid db lineup with so much potential.

The coaches really like him and figure he will mix in but him and mcshephard are buried behind Nick Van Winkle and matthew harris.

Well that's actually good news Turk. I was beginning to wonder if he was going to be less than advertised. Perhaps he'll start next year after Nick graduates.

I think some of the other battles are more closely watched. For instance, do we have a clear cut #2 RB and which rb will get more plays? There seems to be a majority on this board that believe AAnderson is our #2 back but i think Long brings a skillset that secures more plays for him.

Who cares about #2 at any position???? All the RBs will get snaps.....

I think its very significant which RB gets the PT since i hope Jackson is limited to around 20 touches a game. With an inexperienced starting QB, im fairly certain the best recipe may be more of a running offense.

Thanks for sharing Turk. I agree that Jackson had too many touches last season. Taking that type of beating week-in and week-out will take a toll on any RB. Should be interesting to see if Anderson or Long take over the reigns as the #2 or if the #2 will see a combination of the two. Go Cats!

I hear ya, either way, we have a solid #2 and #3 and when was the last time we could say that?

Jackson is our bread and butter, so it's going to be a tough balancing act for Fitz deciding how many times he touches the pill. Certainly, Fitz has the luxury of solid RB backups that he can trust and that will do the job.

I got really pumped hearing Thorson is the starter. You were right about that.
