NU announced the ground breaking for the new lakeside fields and the indoor facilities called Ryan Fieldhouse. Sounds real to me. Should keep turk away even longer, thank goodness.

First, where does it say that ground will be broken for indoor football facility. Secondly it notes that there will be 3 basketball courts, intended for intramural games. It goes on to state that all teams will have their locker rooms in the facility. Somewhat confusing but does that mean that the basketball team will still have to practice at W-R and why?

I am happy to report that my brain is not plagued by nagging minutae about the new facility.

Gives me more time to worry about prepping for the impending zombie apocalypse.

Willy, the press release says that construction will begin immediately after all necessary permits are obtained.

OK, but "immediate" has not been associated with this project from it's inception. Looking forward to the ground breaking party.

I wonder which will happen first..........NU will receive all necessary permits for the Lakeside facility, or learn the outcome of the appeal of the NLRB decision on the unionization decision?

Or will upgrade or tear down Ryan Field or W-R.

Let me clarify based on a casual conversation with someone close to the AD
Groundbreaking is the new/ relocated athletic fields on the lakefill, field hockey, lacrosse whatever....

Seeking formal environmental and building approval for the Fitzmahal football practice field. Will break ground on that as soon as the approvals are received. Plans are final, unless environmental or City issues cause the plan to be modified.

Is that clear?

I'm just curious, what are people going to complain about after the facility is built? Is everyone going to say that it's not really there and pretend like it doesn't exist? Are you going to say that it's not as nice as Oregon's (whether it is or isn't) so we shouldn't have bothered?

The most likely complaints will be:

1. "This is not at all what I thought it should be."
2. "How could they have possibly left out (fill in the blank)."
3. "The architecture is (dated/ugly/ etc.)"
4. "Its not big enough."
5. "Its too big."
6. "Its outdated. We need a new one."
7. "Even (fill in the blank with whatever school) has a better/newer facility than this one."

Realcat,

Well said! The negative discussion on this subject has been revolting. (I wonder how much money has been contributed by the naysayers.)

Yes, it has been interesting. The little state school I attended as an undergrad in Pa. would love to have an endowment even close to what NU will spend on this sports facility. Guess it's all relative.

Why do you continue to lie to everyone? Either you are being intellectually dishonest or you simply do not know how to read. I thought you had a NU degree? NU didn't announce ground breaking on the Ryan Fieldhouse. What NU did announce, if your attention span allowed you to read past the pretty picture, is that Ryan fieldhouse isn't going to have one shovel placed in the ground until regulatory matters are tended to, including attaining permits, and also approvals from the US game and wildlife, Army corps of engineers, etc. This is the 4th time in as many years where you proclaim the new Fieldhouse is ground breaking. I suggest you channel your enthusiasm and have a bit more patience, as opposed to being dishonest about matters.

The reality is that the 'Final plans" have been final for quite some time, unless Phillips was lying previously. This marks the 4th or 5th ground breaking announcement for the Fake on the Lake.
Where is the pic? See, Turk is right again. Also, kindly review the construction page where it continues to say, "TBD". And please provide us with the broomstick [insert permit here] of the army corps of engineers before the Great and All Powerful Turk grants the declaration of ground breaking. Until then, pipe down, and take your Scarecrow diploma from the All Turk Place of High Esteem.

You're the moron that can't read. Never once did I mention any ground breaking for the new Ryan Fieldhouse. I quoted the official press release. Period. Why don't you take your lies, your personal agenda, and your sad little third person references to yourself back to your private little Scout Board so that you can continue to bash away at Lou, Rivals, recruits, other posters, Fitz, the NU program, and life in general.

By the way turk, you were bragging on Scout that this Rivals site would wither away without you. Look who is back and your first or second post is to 1. Bash another poster, 2. Lie about what that poster said, 3. Continue your tired dishonest rant about the Lakeside facilities, 4. Refer to yourself in the 3rd person again. I personally thought the quality of posts improved significantly without you. And your sidekick clown act wrassler.

Psst, my dearest DaCat, kindly step into my classroom.
Let's do an exercise called, 'which one of these is not true;

Here we have the official announcement, "Wildcats Break Ground On Lanny & Sharon Martin Stadium"
Here we have an internet poster's unofficial announcement, "NU announced the ground breaking for the new lakeside fields AND the indoor facilities called Ryan Fieldhouse" [Your words, not mine]
For your homework, please review your own cited article. After the pic, it you still maintained your attention, please scroll down to the not so shiny part where it specifically says the Ryan Fieldhouse still MUST attain permits.

Thus, it is inappropriate, if not intentionally dishonest of you, to explicitly mention the Ryan Fieldhouse in your own self manufactured headlines. I just wanted to tidy things up for you with such clarifications.

As far as your defense of your post by blasting me with unintelligibles, I have no comment. I haven't had the time to post, and I admit I am uninterested in posting and need a rejuvenation of purple blood regarding the football program [as most fans do], but if you are going to insist on invoking my name in every 5th post you make, you mustn't be surprised to illicit a response from me.
Have a good day sir.

Go Cats!

Carefully, read the first post of this thread, which was yours btw. You are the prima basher here by invoking my name unnecessarily, through your anger I suppose.
Carry on!

My dear little turkey, let me spell it out for you since you seem to be struggling so much in these uncharted waters of the Rivals message boards that you so gladly parted company with just a short time ago:

NU announced 1) the ground breaking for the new lakeside fields AND 2) the indoor facilities called Ryan Fieldhouse.

Not surprised you took the bait (when I mentioned your name) from your lonely self-exile in the cricketland nether regions of the Scout message boards.

Rivals > Scout

(That's a greater than sign BTW).

I think the way you are stating this makes it look like you're claiming that NU is announcing the groundbreaking on the indoor facilities. After all, "the indoor facilities called Ryan Fieldhouse" were already announced. It's quite clear that NU has announced no timeline or groundbreaking for when the indoor facility will happen and that's all that anyone is really waiting for, so the point is there's still not much to be excited about.

Fair enough villox. It certainly wasn't my intention to say that we are breaking ground on Ryan Fieldhouse.

This is a massive project that is taking longer than expected but measurable progress is being made. I don't think there is a big coverup to deceive the masses as some would like to hysterically claim.

For a facility like the Fieldhouse, you need funding, land, design and permits to get started. 3 out of 4 seem taken care of. I assume they have a construction company ready as well. Once the permits are obtained they start immediately. It's not earth shattering news but it kind of feels real.
