Nice twist. That doesn't say reduce the debt, it says reduce wasteful spending. Debt is created by spending more than you bring in and requires an analysis of the tax revenue to determine.
The proper statement is "Someone write down the federal government's spending through January 20th, 2025 and we will see when it comes to the end of his term."

Sort of like that fabulous job you have. Your increasing earned income (the part that's not taxed away to fund more wasteful government borrowing & spending) allows you to pay your mortgage and other debts easier & faster. Didn't they teach you that basic concept of how to control deficits through limited spending and a growing economy when they were indoctrinating you in those government schools?

If you are saying that by decreasing wasteful spending, it will increase paying down of debt, why can't someone expect the debt to decrease in 4 years?
Yes! As much as we can. Truthfully, I'd shut it all down except for a few critical/essential Constitutional functions of the Federal Government. It won't eliminate all of that bad debt in 4 years that took literally decades to metastasize, but as long as we're no longer spending beyond our means keeping budgets smaller, out of deficits and in balance, we should eventually get all of it (debt) eliminated. We have to grow our way out of it by expanding economic activity.

Georgia doesn't have to do that by Law, but our Republican Legislature and Republican Governor simply prioritized our revenues and spent only what we needed to spend. The result of that fiscal restraint has resulted in over a 19 Billion dollar surplus that's going to be returned to Georgia taxpayers (where it came from) in the form of even lower tax rates!
That will further expand our State's economy, which will generate additional revenues to the State treasury where coupled with continued fiscal restraint will keep State coffers in surplus, out of deficits and our economy growing!
I realize these concepts are anathema to a government educated bot like you, but these principles work every time they're tried. Many other States have similar results simply by keeping their spending under control and lowering taxes, which leads to additional economic growth and zero deficits.

If you cut spending and keep it within revenues generated, you don't/won't have deficits! Deficits are simply accumulated debts. (which are borrowed to pay for more wasteful government spending). The debt does have to be re-paid, but you do that through additional revenues generated by a growing economy. You don't transfer existing spending to payments on the debt only. You stop deficit spending, and pay down your debts with the increased revenue lower taxes and fiscal restraint provides to a growing economy.
