Far? Nah. I love Don for sure, i mean he is a legend, but an argument can definitely be made on that. I'm not going to make that argument but one can be made.

That being said. Bring on Rich Rod! Lifetime contract. 100 mil buyout, haha jk. But seriously I would love to see what he could do coming back home.
I can’t criticize Nehlen. What he did is put WVU on the map. We had some flirtations with success under Art Lewis, Jim Carlen, Bobby Bowden, but Nehlen really got us going. He made a lot it possible. Rodriguez definitely carried the torch and took WVU a little further.

I don’t know why people are still sore over Rodriguez leaving. He left for a better job opportunity. Most people in his shoes would’ve done the same. While he may not have left the right way or right time for the program, people forget why he did what he did. He was promised a lot of things when he turned down Alabama, and he claims WVU did not honor those handshake agreements. Whether anyone believes him or not, the fact remains there was obviously tension and disagreement between Rodriguez and the WVU AD. It’s been 16 years. It’s time to move on. We all learn from experiences and gain wisdom with age. It’s time to forgive and forget. That said, I think if the time is right for both Rodriguez and WVU, then we should consider bringing him back. WVU football has not been remotely close to anything he built here since Rod left.
The things WV wouldnt do which were promised turned out to be illegal. Then after he left he sent his D co-coordinator to apply for his open job and claimed discrimination when he wasn't handed the job. Also he claimed his parents were being threatened with death by some unknown WV fans ... Yeah he needs to return to his favorite place of employment.....

Good God now there’s two of them that won’t address Rich’s subpar record without White, his time away from football, his age, and trying to derail the discussion to something that fits their agenda.

It’s 2023 you cucks, your boy is old as **** and hasn’t won anything in over 15 years, move on!

WVU would dominate the B12 if he came here. With our new facilities his recruiting would be better than ever. This team would be ridiculous

Sane people: Rich Rodriguez’s P5 coaching record without Pat White is 87-78

Rodriguez fanboys: You’re gay!

Definitely need to get on board with these people, true football stalwarts
Even without White then...he's better than the current woke pussyboy. Glad you pointed that out little one.

Rich Rodriguez WVU record 3 years before Pat White 25-13. In 2002 WVU finished in 2nd place to a Miami team that played for the NC. The same Miami team nearly lost to a “Pat White-less” WVU team that was only saved by a 4th and 20 plus diving grab by Kellen Winslow that kept Miami alive in route to a 22-20 win. In 2003, another “Pat White-less” WVU squad shared a Big East title with the same Miami team that finished 11-2 and ranked #5. These “Pat White-less” teams paved the way to recruit and sign Pat White and many others. If not for Rich Rodriguez and his vision of Pat White running his offense, WVU would’ve continued to be “Pat White-less” and Pat White would’ve played DB at LSU. Rich Rod says you’re welcome!

Sane people: on top of being 87-78 as a P5 coach without Pat White, he is even worse after Pat White in addition to being 7 years removed from power conference football… seems like a bad idea

Rod fanboys: writes a paragraph about the 2002-03 Big East

Rich Rodriguez career college football coaching record stands at 172–121–2. 25-13 prior to Pat White. Currently 12-3 at Jacksonville State in cusa. Named Big East Coach The Year and PAC 12 coach of the year. Looks like a solid D1 HC

I thought that at first because the way he left angered me, but I'm over it. We lost to Pitt and it was a huge blow. A lot of people claim Rich threw that game but I dont buy it. The players in it have said as much. It was a bad loss, and so was losing Rich. But over the years I've come to understand some of the other things that were going on behind the scenes during that time. Rich had more reasons to leave than a lot of ppl give credit for. It was not just the money.

I have no problem with the loss. I do have problems with a scumbag that puts down his University and lies about death threats to his parents.

Would have had no problem with him leaving had he not been an *** about it and just simply lay claimed to be it's an opportunity I have worked for. Rich can wallow in whatever pile of manure he has laid.

I bet Alabama gave a great sigh of relief after they nearly screwed up in hiring him.

Sane people: Rich Rod’s record (0.588 win pct) when you include his years of JV football coaching looks an awful lot like Neal Brown’s (also 0.588 win pct) record, who we can all agree is not good enough, it’s probably not a good idea.

Rod fanboys: talks about the 2002-03 Big East for the umpteenth time despite repeatedly being asked to talk about what he is going to bring to the table in 2023, then finally leans on 1 season of FCS and one third of a season of G5 data (despite improperly labeling the FCS season as CUSA… it’s okay I know you have no idea what the 2023 version of Rich Rodriguez the football coach is actually like, what system he runs, where his pipeline of players comes from, or if he even has an appetite to coach a major program again)

There are countless coaches who have a similar recent body of work in FCS/G5 that atleast have the unknown variable of how they would perform at a major conference school.

Not my hope, but if WVU gets beat at TCU, then the whining over RichRod will revert back to whining, complaining and crying about Brown for a week.

I see things differently, but I actually know Ed P on a personal level and he gave a lot of info that shed light on some things. I think Rich should have offered up a small press conference to announce he is leaving, but at the same time I cant blame him for leaving at all. It was ugly behind the scenes and RR wanted nothing to do with the good ol boy network. When a politician has more say in your football team's schedule then you do, something is wrong. Any good coach would have left......... in the middle of the night and ran far far away from Joe Manchin.

Please continue to humor the board by downplaying the pre Pat White years at WVU.

You are 1 of 1 people who spends time thinking about the 2002 WVU football team. Maybe also our resident tourettes guy who shows up every now and then to call everything gay.

Allen..
You remind me of a little girl jumping up and down on her mattress and yelling cause mommy won't do what she wants. Too funny.
