because of the crummy contract extension, because he wouldn't part with Brown, or a combination of both.......willing to bet it's both.

Also read he wasn't fully on board with the Country Roads Trust. They need someone there that can handle that better.

Heard Shane was asked to resign during the meetings held this past weekend so the buyout would not equal 4 million dollars as part of negotiating.

Bulk of it was the extension. Had Brown turned into Nehlen 2.0, any other issues would be overlooked. However the contract extension sealed it. Whether Shane was willing to part ways with Brown or not is irrelevant as even if he was, the extension Lyons gave is the reason parting with Brown is so complicated and going to cost the university big even if negotiated down. Also the fact that he whiffed so hard on that big of a gamble really makes it hard to trust him for the next hire.

Shane was also named AD of the year by his peers. Maybe he was feeling a little to happy.

Also heard he wouldn't fire Brown so he's gone .

does sole authority to extend rest with the AD? maybe it does but my guess is the president signs off to approve the allocation of funds in the budget.

that doesn't mean the extension wasn't part of any firing, but Gee would have approved it, so he is culpable if the extension is a part of any reason to "fire".

Shane has a record, and personally, it isn't unimpressive. He'll land somewhere and do very well. Just a guess though.

Have you heard any good names being mentioned for the AD position? I know Rob Mullens would rock.
