Religious Signs on GameDay

I don't catch the show often as I'm usually watching my son's football games but he has a bye today so I am.

Are there always religious signs in the crowd at the shows?

I'm a very strong Christian, but allowing these seems like a huge slippery slope.

How would viewers react if these were Muslim signs? Satanic? Liberal?

I think they should keep religion and politics out of the show.

They're always there. Preventing them would raise serious first amendment issues. There was also a sign saying "Notre Dame likes these nuts" or something like that. Probably should ban that one.

Well, to be fair, at the end of the Super Bowl halftime show a couple years back, the word SATAN was on display on the digital screen behind the stage, albeit briefly. So there's that...

If you’re a Christian but question if they can simply allow a sign with scripture on it at College Gameday of all places ..

You’re definitely not a Christian.

No he just has more than 2 brain cells and understands the implications of allowing one means allowing any other type of sign like that as well which I'm sure you'd have a **** fit over.

That's between me and God.

You check the box for being a judgmental prick though... Let me guess, you're a member of Westboro Baptist?

Nice bait you put down there. I'll wait for it to make it to the off topic board before I comment any further. SMH

Well, I believe that was the thinking for allowing players to kneel. It’s your freedom to support your beliefs, religious or political otherwise. We obviously have a morality problem in this country that we have a strong and vocal support for evil and anti Christianity. Lawfully there is unfortunately nothing to stop it. The best thing to do is turn it off when you see it.

I have no problem when the groups he listed identify themselves. Matter of fact I read the sign and believe they mean what they say.

Exactly. See it, turn it off and move on. Let them express themselves. No matter how ignorant. The same can be said of us on this message board.

I guess the difference there is that the networks don't have the power to tell the players what to do (that would be on there universities/NCAA), but they do with the signs.

I'm a Christian so I'm not bothered by the message on the signs, but inevitably somebody with different views is going to show up with their own signs one day and I just don't see that going well for anybody and will ultimately be a distraction for the show.

I don’t support it either. However, it’s their right. Watching it is voluntary. We can turn it off.

Lol. That includes everbody right? Just keep in mind calling for violence and civil war will make you a target unless you vote for Joe Biden. They have made that clear. Be angry but keep your head screwed on right.

I didn’t call for civil war or violence. Where did that come from?

It has been discussed on here numerous times over the years. I have given sound advice on the subject. The advice is for all and not your handle specifically. If others choose not to take the advice then they are adults and can learn the hard way. Life isn't fair as this administration proves that daily. There's also controlled opposition trying to bait you into violence. Don't fall for it.

Freedom of speech is not a slippery slope at all. Its constitutional law. Its all about the "blowback" now though. I can hold a Jesus sign right next to someone holding a Budda sign and freedom of speech laws should protect us both. Sadly, too many Christians are too scared to speak out on their beliefs these days in fear of persecution. Which is precisely what Jesus did NOT want us to do and instructed us to do the opposite.

That's not what I said at all but I'm not going to bother trying to make my point because I know people like you and know it won't make a difference.

You'll be the first to ***** when somebody exercises their freedom of speech by doing something you disagree with though.

Freedom of Speech isn't a one way street that only people we agree with are provided. It's also not something that transcends into business... If one of my employees chooses to wear a Let's Go Brandon shirt or a BLM shirt to work, it's within my rights to tell them to take it off or leave. There's nothing unconstitutional about that.

You are correct. Only because it is completely voluntary to accept a job within a company. You agree to their terms for employment. You break that agreement and you are fired. I also agree with, it is an individual’s rights to believe whatever religion or political ideology they choose. No matter how ignorant they are. It becomes a problem when it violates another’s rights and breaks the law.

Ok. ESPN can a have dress code for their employees. I'm pretty sure they do. However it should be equal across the board for all.

As long as fans aren't holding signs calling for violence on specific groups or language that violates whatever their family rating is then they shouldn't be policing that. They are Media. Not the thought police.

Those that took a knee for the National Anthem had the right to do so. Those who don't care for it have the right to say it only divides, doesn't help your cause, and makes you a disrespectful piece of ****.

That was actually suppose to be Saban but they couldn't spell.
