I'm all for that. And why stop there? Add those that drive drunk, execute them for potentially killing someone while driving. Doesn't matter if their blood-alcohol level is over the limit. Put the limit at .00

For convicted DUI folks, I favor a "three strikes and you're out" tiered level of 99discipline.

1st time offenders....5 year ban (suspension) of driving privileges

2nd time offender....double the penalty, pay a 10,000 fine.

3rd time....strike out. Permanent suspension of license, loss of income, mandatory jail sentence of at least 10 years, full restitution to anyone affected.

How would the defendant make full restitution after a 10 year jail sentence and loss of income?

And judges will tell you almost anyone can get 1 DUI. The real problem occurs when they get additional duis.

there is a real problem when people unfamiliar with the legal system want to make changes to it. Especially draconian changes. That’s like me regulating how our bridges are built.

Nah, execute them. Passing laws restricting them isn't going to stop them from driving. End them.

How about if you hurt someone the punishment is harsh. Having a couple of beers and driving is bad judgment. It doesn't make you Satan or death penalty eligible. It's definitely something people can learn from. People selling Fentanyl and hard core drugs are a whole different category. They should be treated much harsher than the kid selling weed.

You certainly make a point, my proposal was to simply discourage DUI with harsher penalties. We do have Lawmakers who can write more practical restrictions than what I proposed. My point is we should try and make the penalty for DUI sting enough to discourage more of it. I'm not for the death penalty as was suggested earlier ITT, unless the DUI results in a loss of life for victims.

I think revocation and/or suspensions of their driving privileges is punishment enough. You'd be executing a lot of folks if you off everyone who's ever gotten behind a wheel a little sloshed. 😨

Nah. They get behind the wheel after drinking they are attempting murder. Execute them.

I have little tolerance for drunk drivers but if we execute everyone who breaks the law who'd still be alive?

Hillary sure wouldn't be.

Lawmakers rarely write/publicly support harsher restrictions fearing loss of votes come election times...

When it comes to DUI, plenty of them are behind the wheel too...often more than once! Then they pull "rank" to get let off easy.

I didn't say execute "everyone". A person who drives while intoxicated has a case that is much EASIER to prosecute for 1st degree, pre-meditated murder than any other scenario out there. Their intentions were clear. Their crime is clear. Their outcome is clear. Execute them. No second-chance. No remorse.

Does that include all your friendly legislators who often get caught driving drunk by State Troopers, then they flash their government legislator I.D. cards and with a 'wink-and-a-nod' are told to quietly go home? (or they get escorted) ;)
