It's slowly killing college football. NIL is one thing, but the portal needs to be abolished.
It makes you wonder, did they see how much Oscar improved after he left and that influenced them to seek the same thing?
Huggins probably needs to hire a younger relatable assistant that can recruit. That way they get the carrot and stick.

My Gives-A-****-Ometer is definitely at an all time low. I don’t think I could be less interest WV Sports. I never really cared about any of them outside of football anyway. I enjoyed our success on the court, but I wasn’t a diehard. Football, I was a diehard. The Dana years set me on a downward trend, then the VK thing coupled with NIL and Portal ended any care I had. I didn’t watch hardly any games last year across CFB, let alone WVU. I won’t be back to Morgantown, I may catch an away game or a bowl game, maybe.
Perhaps WVU needs to hire a huge money maker that likes to give out big bucks for players instead of cars.
Good luck finding one of those. I'm not donating to that. Throwing money away and realistically we could never compete with the big boy donors of bigger schools there.
Need to recruit a mindset of junkyard dogs and compete the best we can. Hopefully eventually this new system collapses on itself and adjustments are made.
I don't think we will have a problem keeping up in hoops buying players. Football is a different animal. In hoops you need 3 guys and roll players. In football you need 30 or more.
It's not that I disagree with your point. It's a solid point. It's just that I question anyone's sanity who would waste their money on buying players right now with everything else going on with the economy.
Actually, you need 6 stars, 3 on each side of the ball, and the rest to be competent.
For most folks I agree but there are the folks out there with stupid money and buying glory is a bucket drop for them.
I was talking about needing 3 in hoops. In football you need a qb. Rb. 2 wr. 3 lineman. At least the same on defense. It just seems like a much bigger task.

He had some pretty good players around him at WVU, but probably not as good as he has at KY.
Not sure why they're going to waste time playing games anymore. Just hand the NC trophy to the program with the best NIL deals and be done with it.

I hear ya. I have canceled my ESPN+/Disney+ bundle, with the decision to forego paying extra for those games. Willing to go to radio for those games.
Agreed. My interest is at an all-time low as well. Won't be getting season tickets for the first time since 2001. The "elites" of the college football world won't be affected much.
The NIL deals have a huge hand in destroying my interest as well. Turning college, amateur athletes into pros was a huge mistake. Unless you're a fan of Ohio State, Alabama, Texas....$$$$$.....etc it's going to be very difficult to be excited about college sports again. Coaches no longer have control of their players. Coaches need to appease or watch them transfer. They can no longer coach their players.
Such a travesty. They only thing I can see some colleges doing is break away from the NCAA. The non-elite Power 5s break and form a league with the non-power 5s.
Just let the 10 or so elites have at it and the rest can keep the tradition.
If the non power 5s break away I will gladly return to Saturdays in the bar or stadium. For now watching squirrels screw & going to amish country with the wife is going good
