The portal is destroying mid to lower tier P5 programs, and totally dismantling the G5 programs. Any time a G5 program has a decent player, they're going to transfer up. Same is true with the bottom half of P5 programs losing transfers to top 30 programs. It's a mess, and it's destroying college football. I believe they need to go back to making a player sit out a year if he decides to transfer out.

I wonder how many of these were Dana recruits and how many are HCNB? Also, saw Miller was back in the portal leaving Auburn. I thought they got one free transfer and after that they had to follow the previous rules.

Might be time to start doing 2 year or 3 year Scholarships instead of 1 year with renewals. That might stop some of this crap.

Not everybody can start. Those that don't work for it get their feelings hurt. 2019 and 2020 you people claimed this was the worst receiving core in college football. Now you're crying because the bad ones are leaving.

I think have the worst versus not having any at all is the argument.

Still trying to blame Holgorsen? Its THREE YEARS IN, GOING ON FOUR since Holgorsen was at WVU. Brown is losing these players and its his responsibility.

What exactly do you people see in Brown that you are so concerned about him--by all results he is NOT a good P5 coach. He is quickly taking what was a pretty good program that was actually climbing and turning it into a dumpster fire.

23 were Dana recruits and 21 of those had splinters in their ***.

Love how the Brown worshippers are trying to excuse away transfers as "Holgorsen recruits", as though THREE YEARS AFTER that coach left has any bearing on what is happening THREE YEARS, nearly four now, later.

I mean, if these people were going to leave due to a COACHING CHANGE don't you think they would have done it three or four years ago?

And its not like Brown was getting rid of them either--its THREE YEARS LATER.

They see the continuous deterioration going and decided to get out now while they still have options before its too late. Sure, a couple might have better NIL deals (another Brown apologist ploy). NOT 33 and climbing--50 plus since Brown came on board and started sinking the ship (and NIL deals were not a thing yet).

The current HC in charge is the person responsible for these departures and the failings on the football field. Can't blame young athletes for taking their best interest in hand now.

WVUs depth has been devastated at this point. Hey I know, sign another two or three year extension!

NFL plays with 48 players.

WVU has never had depth since NCAA limited scholarships.

Buckyroot acts like the ones leaving will never be replaced.

Buckeyroot needs her eyes open to see the players leaving every school as they rot in the portal never to be picked up.

You know Bucky, I asked a question that was legit. Not trying to put H vs B, just asking a legit question. And you try to take it personal. Why not just go away until you get the coach you want. Or go root for H. But good grief man, we cannot discuss anything legit cause you become and idiot and cannot answer a simple question.

All teams and coaches are going to go through these issues and it is going to become more and more prominent. And schools like WVU, and the lower 5 schools of each conference or even 8 schools will start to see it happen a lot. Until we start offering 2 to 4 year scholarships, or limit the movement, this is what we will deal with.

And honestly it probably will be the end of college football for many schools.

Thanks Allen for answering the question.

Oh bs. Tired of people bullshitting the obvious problem and making up excuses. If you cant deal with reality then go away.

Everything I stated is factual while most of you want to make up excuses. WVU made a bad mistake in letting one coach go and hiring an unproven one and now WVU football is a losing program thats bleeding players.

Actually Bucky, we just want to have a decent conversation and talk and debate without the bashing and constant stupidity of your posts. We get it, you loved H and hate Brown. I did not hate H, but knew he would leave as soon as possible. He never fit. He is a texas person and that is okay. But to say he was awesome is really lame man. He never won with his players. I don't know if Brown will win with his players either but he deserves a chance to see.

Covid and this free agent portal has screwed things up a little (sarcasm intended) for all of college football and especially for schools like WVU and the "not top 5 to 10" programs in the country. We may never see any schools outside of those to 5 to 10 compete for a national championship ever again. But everyone should get 5 years and that is what we should do. Gripe about in game decisions, gripe about bad player development, gripe about too much loyalty to family friend QBs, etc. But let's see what it looks like in two more years when there is not a H player left on the team.

Then we will know whether it is Brown or not.

Not in this new era of football! We have never seen free agency in college football— EVER! If these players had to sit out the year, they would not be transferring! But this instant availability will destroy college football

If WVU football is this bad for two more years it will not recover for a long long time. There is no reason to give someone making $3 million per year 5 years to produce less than average results. College football is a game of seize the moment, not a game of wait half a decade and see if he can learn to coach. Most schools trying to be successful understand this and make the necessary adjustments. WVU is already at some disadvantage in the world of realignment, blowing two more seasons will make sustaining a major program unlikely beyond that.
Clearly many of you HATED DH as he won games for WVU, but all the negativity and criticism lobbed at him til he left is in quadruple display from Brown and its “ more time, more years”?!?

He has had enough time and we've seen what he has done to WVU football. There is not going to be a climb or any improvement from blind wishes.

change will bring improvement.

This board is not just for those here to stroke their own ego's and pretend the emporer has clothes.

During the last coaching staff here the hypocrites were out in force making up negatives as WVU was winning lots of games and now the same think everyone will sit back and be quiet while WVU slides down the tubes in reality.

People making up things to criticize when WVU was winning hardly are going to tell WVU fans to shut up and just accept what is happening to WVU football now. Doesn't work that way.

You dished it out in droves now reap what you sowed.

Its clear WVU needs major change with the football program .

1. You stroke your own ego quite a lot with your holier than thou, voice in the wilderness shtick.

2. There were negatives when "WVU was winning lots of games" or else WVU would've won a title. They didn't have to be made up.

3. You've been shitting on Brown from day 1 and it's clear you weren't even going to give him a chance. Most of us didn't want to hear butt-hurt, inane bitching that was obviously coming from a point of animosity and not objective observation. As you can see now that year 3 has gone poorly, the overall patience with Brown has worn thin. Just like it did with Holgorsen after his 4-8 year 3. The next 5 years Holgorsen proceeded to show he could keep WVU in the average to occasionally above average level in the Big 12, but was not likely to ever make the championship game. Hence it was not worth the University trying to beat the overly generous offer Houston was giving him.

4. I think WVU likely does need a coaching change. After 3 years of Brown I think odds are that even if he can improve, the ceiling for that improvement will not be much better than what Holgorsen achieved. Let's hope Brown doesn't limp to averaging 8 wins a year for the next 5 years, but only ever beating the bad to middling Big 12 teams during that time. Worse thing that can happen at this point for WVU is for a mediocre staff to keep doing just enough to give administration a glimmer of hope but never really getting over the hump. It'd be better to just move on soon rather than spin the program's wheels for half a decade waiting for the day that will never come.

Want some cheese with that whine? wah wah wah!- i talked **** daily about the second winningest coach at WVU ever and lied about him constantly even after he left—-but you arent allowed to say anything about the coach I worship cuz it huwts my fragile ego and reminds me how stupid I am! I dont get to control other peoples opinion with my make believe world view! Wahhhhhhh!

Brown has a looooooong way to go to to average 6 wins a season. If he could accomplish 8 wins per like Holgorsen did only a moron like yourself would be chasing him away. Go back to sleep and keep playing make believe though.

So, how long does a coach get to "fix things" here?

What is an acceptable "fix"? 8 wins? 9 wins? A national championship? This has to be done in 1 year? Maybe 2? No longer than 3- can't take longer than 3.

Some of you guys will always be moving the bar. A bar that WVU has NEVER ascended.

Some of you guys think WVU is some magical holy grail of coaching that if we just get the "right" guy in he can take us to a national championship.

This coaching god will do something no other coach has ever done here - bring in multiple 4 and 5 star talent at every position as well as have the x's and o's down to a science.

So, let's fire Brown now. As in today. What coaching god is coming here? A college with no recruiting base, no tradition of winning, no 4 or 5 star talent to build upon, and "fix" all this in one or two years.

Some of you live in la-la land.

And this is why no one takes you seriously. Nothing in your response addressed the content of my post. Holgorsen had 8 years here and never really had WVU playing at an above average level with the exception of the end of 2011 with Stewart's roster. He never recreated a team like that Orange Bowl one in the additional 7 years he was here. So would he be worth 25 million guaranteed over 5 years to keep him if the 2018 8-4 season was the pinnacle of achievement in 8 years? That is the minimum it would've taken to keep Holgorsen at WVU given the 20 million guaranteed Houston was offering and Holgorsen's stronger desire to live there than Morgantown.

Holgorsen had my support and patience up until the end of year 4. After WVU declined to 4-8 only to reach the disappointing 7-5 like season of 2012 in year 4, I was no longer willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. I am the at the same point with Brown and if not for Lyons idiotic extension I'd say it's worth while to see what is available to replace him immediately. Since we are stuck financially with him, I will hope for the best as there is really no choice for a fan to do otherwise. That being said, not even back to back 8-9 win season where WVU only beats middling teams should save him in my opinion.

Didn’t the last guy show up as a coordinator with zero head coaching experience?
Had issues hiring a staff of what the program needed other than getting together a group of drinking buddies.
Had issues with miss placed time outs and never was able (though being such an offensive genius) bring in and develop a quarterback.

The last guy won 10 games year one And crushed Clemson in a major bowl. Your guy barely eked out 5. Any issues were holdouts from the previous staff. As to your lying drinking statements why not apply that to Huggins, or does he fit your good ole boy coaching necessity? You are making up unimportant lies when what these people are paid for is WINNING. Holgorsen did it far better than Brown and for some idiotic reason you love Browns losing more than the second most wins Holgorsen delivered. Love the 5 win seasons better than the 10 win seasons DH brought.

7 wins wasn’t good enough three years but 5 win regular seasons and losing seasons are great? Why would that be exactly moron?

Bs there is no substance in your post and everything you’ve said has been addressed—- you just don’t accept it because your ego can’t admit you are endlessly epically wrong.
