Crazy thing is, based on Manchin’s moves, he could be a legitimate Presidential candidate. There’s a lot of old school Democrat voters turned off by the Obama Biden movement

Yes he could be....and I think he would have a decent shot.

Yeah but no way he gets through a primary...that left base ain't having it.

They all had to fall on their swords to get Biden in....

He's been advocating that-correct?

He supports it, yes.

That's really the only piece in the bill anyone cares about.

Stripping back all the **** and keeping something that actually helps people would be politically brilliant - and the left will look like fools over it.

The sooner people forget about their Dad's and Grandpa's political parties the better. They both have been corrupted. There's our country surviving and those who have been selling it out and those who simply want to destroy it. Do your best to convince everyone you know stop voting for those ********.

Yup...there is zero chance the radical kook fringe Leftist base of today's Socialist Democrat party will give him their mantle to carry into battle against White Supremacist Capitalist Trumpers.

Ain't gonna happen.

You know I've been patiently waiting since they dumped me for Hildabeast....now it's MY turn!

No Bernie...I'm next!!!!!

You both need to sit down and shut up...I'm on deck

Heels up Kamala??????

I've sent some very pointed emails to Manchin for his leftist voting record. But today, I took the time to express my thanks to him on behalf of all hard working, patriotic, reasonable West Virginians. I honestly didn't think he had the stones to stand up to the lunatic wing of the Dumbocrat party, let alone handle the blowback. Seems I was wrong.

Still don't trust him.

Since he's a politician, he has an ego. Politicians with egos like to collect and/or wield power. He's doing that now, having fun tickin' off the brass in his party, feeling his power, and probably setting himself up to switch parties and run again as a Republican in West Virginia so he can stay on his power ego trip. I don't trust him either, but I respect his decision to vote against this debt monster.

I’d be weary but he actually made the correct vote that best represents the interest of his state. Im sure Manchin will cave to the next reiteration.

It will be funny to see Hoppy Kercheval’s reaction to this as he’s sure to stroke out due to all the cognitive dissonance.

If I were Manchin, could easily turn this back around and put pressure on those radicals. He and others could introduce a separate child credit bill. A few of them have already said that if Manchin votes no, they will not support anything he wants. So, if he supports a stand-along bill for the child credit, and they are against it, who comes out as the "bad guys"? Yep.

Is Manchin smart enough to do this?

I think Manchin could introduce a stand alone child tax credit bill that would get 70 votes...an actual bipartisan package.

Remember the 2017 tax reform doubled the child credit from $1,000 to $2,000 (Marco Rubio flex). GOP is open to it, and it's much easier now that the SALT deductions are gone.

Tax policy always screws SOMEONE. Screwing high tax liberal states in favor of a robust child credit is something I'm fine with...i think most folks are.

If they really wanted to get creative they'd raise the personal exemption and cap it at no more than 20% of your AGI (in other words, you can't be taxed on more than 20% of your income). They should also remove the income limits on when the deduction phases out, and subject ALL earnings to claim the exemption based on the same 20% formula.

Tax Year 2021 Standard Deduction and Exemptions (filed in 2022)

  • Single - $12,550
  • Married Filing Joint - $25,100
  • Married Filing Separate - $12,550
  • Head of Household - $18,800
  • Qualifying Widow(er) - $25,100
Personal Exemptions- ELIMINATED

A person is considered to reach age 65 on the day before his or her 65th
birthday.

If the taxpayer or spouse is legally blind and/or born before January 2, 1955, the following additions are added to the standard deduction for each occurrence:

  • $1,350 for Married Filing Joint or Separate and Qualifying Widow(er) filers
  • $1,700 for Single and Head of Household filers
  • Not available if itemizing deductions - If Married filing Separate and one spouse itemizes their deductions, the other must also itemize
Raise the single exemption to 18,500. Double the Married filing joint exemption as well as Married filing separate exemption. Raise head of household exemption to 35K. Eliminate qualifying Widow(er)...let survivors of deceased live in peace free from taxation!

Good luck getting a clean bill passed through both houses. They couldn't get a clean infrastructure bill passed. They couldn't get a clean stimulus bill passed during a pandemic.

To the left popular bills are the bus to stuff their socialist ******** into.

Know what I miss? Those same Leftists on this forum who were always squealing like stuck pigs over Trump's proposed deficit spending. It's almost as if Biden's proposed red ink has sent them all back to their basements to study their Democrat manufactured talking points!

Those people are not welcome in the Dem party any longer. Those values are long gone in the Dem party.
I'm not sure the Democrat party really had any defined "values" so to speak (except America is a racist, sexist, homophobic sh*t hole) but you are correct about the hard Left turn that party has made on the road to political irrelevance.

Since when do politicians on the Left or the Right do anything that actually helps people instead of enhancing their own political positions or careers?

Ol joe Manchin votes party line most of the time . The dnc(DSA) is allowing him to fight this at this time just to help him in 2022 . His lord & masters (DSA) knows if he voted yes for this bill he would be done in WV & they need him later down the rd . Dont be fooled by this little game, watch the other votes in the Senate.

I don't think nothing he does will save WVU in the conference battle. Just hope he don't vote yes for any part of this bill
If he’s not using his vote to secure and ensure WVU a future home in a stable conference, he’s a fool.

As long as all this **** gets us into the ACC or SEC, I don’t really care.
As much as I'd love to end up in the SEC, I actually think we'll be just fine in the new Big 12. I want to see us relevant, not a potential doormat for the 'Bama's, UGA's and Texas A&M's of the SEC world.

McConnell and the GOP control the south, both SEC and ACC are headquartered in the south and at least one of the conferences is almost exclusively in GOP areas. It would be a carrot I’d be dangling for Manchin if it were me.
