Good grief. This is getting crazy.
I build a lot of things. And I thought the lumber price surge was over with after the initial surge. Guess not. I won't be buying supplies for a while now.I've been holding out on building a new backyard deck (would be a large deck, two tiers) over this.... I dont need it bad enough to over pay on it.
We will never see a legitimate national election again. Nothing was done last time. Idiots laugh and poke fun at Trump whining about it. Yet, they don’t realize this wasn’t about Trump. This is about our freedom. Trump said it perfectly when he said it’s not him they’re after. I’m only in the way. It’s you they’re after. But hey, he was mean and hurt their feelings. Well, we all get what we deserve. As a country, we don’t deserve the freedom if we’re gonna be soo stupid to not do anything about it.We can thank every single person - dead, alive, imaginary - that cast a vote for Joe Biden. When the PTB realize they can get away with stealing a Presidential election without retribution then the feel emboldened to push further and faster for their agenda.
My dad used to do a lot of woodworking. I'm gonna check to see if he has some boards laying around when I visit for Christmas. At these prices they are investments.I build a lot of things. And I thought the lumber price surge was over with after the initial surge. Guess not. I won't be buying supplies for a while now.
Reality doesn’t jive with your narrative. An unknown Republican truck driver beat the kingmaker in Jersey. We swept VA statehouse. Just vote correctly and you can make a difference. We will never see a legitimate national election again. Nothing was done last time. Idiots laugh and poke fun at Trump whining about it. My deck needs overhauled bad , but not that bad...I've been holding out on building a new backyard deck (would be a large deck, two tiers) over this.... I dont need it bad enough to over pay on it.

12% is nothing for you high dollar government workers....I'm guessing it would be crumbs to you ....Democrat way of thinking....Lumber has experienced a wild 2021. Prices peaked above the $1,700 in May and subsequently fell as much as 74% before bottoming around $452 and rebounding 127% to its current level. The commodity is still down 41% from its recent high, and is only up 12% year-to-date.
This is why they get away with it.Reality doesn’t jive with your narrative. An unknown Republican truck driver beat the kingmaker in Jersey. We swept VA statehouse. Just vote correctly and you can make a difference.
You need to accept that Trump was hated by independents because of his brash and crass attitude. They ignored the substance, and it’s partly his own fault. However, support MAGA candidates and create change. It will work and has already post-Trump.
I'm charging more for pounding the ole ladyGood grief. This is getting crazy.
Built a house few years ago. The 2x4 were $2.70 per stick. Now they are $5.70 per stick. In just 5 years. I think that's more than 12%. Also, 7/16 OSB was $8 per sheet. Now it is over $18 per sheet.12% is nothing for you high dollar government workers....I'm guessing it would be crumbs to you ....Democrat way of thinking....
Well, is that for soft wood or hard wood?I'm charging more for pounding the ole lady
I need a new deck pretty badly. How is the synthetic **** with price increases? Looking to resurface the deck in the spring.I build a lot of things. And I thought the lumber price surge was over with after the initial surge. Guess not. I won't be buying supplies for a while now.
Good news is lumber is almost as much as composite. My deck needs overhauled bad , but not that bad...
We had our deck redone this summer we got quotes for wood and trex. The Trex was basically the same price so we went with that.I need a new deck pretty badly. How is the synthetic **** with price increases? Looking to resurface the deck in the spring.
Plus my entire dock needs resurfacing and it is easily 40 yards long. That's going to be a *****, isn't it?
Trex is running between $15-30 (8 foot/16 foot). The 2x6 pressure treated prices haven't really gone up like 2x4 and 2x6 framing lumber has (approx. $7.50 for 8 foot). If you are going to do a deck, and use lumber and not the composite decking, I'd get the materials NOW. Once spring arrives, I predict the cost of pressure treated lumber will go up 25% or higher. The lumber futures are heading back to last years numbers, and those were insane.I need a new deck pretty badly. How is the synthetic **** with price increases? Inch worm wood :joy:Well, is that for soft wood or hard wood?
I’m in the same boat with my dock. The quote I got from the cheap guy put it at 6 figures with also doing the seawall.I need a new deck pretty badly. How is the synthetic **** with price increases? Looking to resurface the deck in the spring.

I don’t think you can do composite on the water, at least I don’t of anyone who has or does. Maybe it’s just always been a price thing. My pier is 5 ft wide and runs out about 50 yards with 2 slip areas.Trex is running between $15-30 (8 foot/16 foot). The 2x6 pressure treated prices haven't really gone up like 2x4 and 2x6 framing lumber has (approx. $7.50 for 8 foot). Personally, If you are willing to pay the money and have the finances to do it, go with the composite. It's a better investment and much less maintenance. I went with 2x6 for my deck, and went a cheaper 5/4 decking board for a pool/sun deck. I don't like the 5/4 decking, but it was a couple dollars cheaper. I wish I had went with the composite.
Is Trex slippery? The last time I was n it was nearly 20 years ago and it was slick as hell. I imagine they have changed eh composite by now.We had our deck redone this summer we got quotes for wood and trex. The Trex was basically the same price so we went with that.
I wouldn't put a synthetic on the dock, especially because it is a salt water river that opens in the mouth of the Chesapeake. Thinking synthetic for the deck only.I don’t think you can do composite on the water, at least I don’t of anyone who has or does. Maybe it’s just always been a price thing. I was talking about the Trex for his deck. But Trex can be used for docks too.I don’t think you can do composite on the water, at least I don’t of anyone who has or does. Maybe it’s just always been a price thing. My pier is 5 ft wide and runs out about 50 yards with 2 slip areas.
Sorry. I'm a little far away. Rip it up and do it yourself. Save some money. Trust me, you can do it.Thanks. Want to do a job in Virginia Beach?

That’s on any deck, but important to note, if they’re building to spec, the railing posts are anchored to actual lumber, and, it’s lumber inside of the Trex post. They’re just hollow sleeves that slide over a 4x4 post.I've seen a few trex decks where the railings started to get loose and wobbly, kinda turned me off to them.

They have a locking system that most people don't buy that locks each plank together. It's like a black plastic clip that fits (hidden) between the boards. Secures them.I've seen a few trex decks where the railings started to get loose and wobbly, kinda turned me off to them.
Sounds like you have done a few of them. Are they worth the extra cost ? Will the extra cost help in resale? They have a locking system that most people don't buy that locks each plank together. It's like a black plastic clip that fits (hidden) between the boards. Secures them.

Alpine Lake in Preston County. I've got my eyes on land up there. Cheap, and secluded!Of course, I'm getting ready to build a house, as soon as I find someone crazy enough to part with some land.
Yes and Yes. One of my biggest regrets when building my house was not going with composite decking on my front and back porch. They are both covered, and I would have never had to replace the boards like I will eventually with the 2x6's. One of the major drawbacks of composite decking is that some (not all) tend to fade when in direct sunlight over the years. The newer technology of composite decking, however, has worked to fix this problem.Sounds like you have done a few of them. Are they worth the extra cost ? Will the extra cost help in resale?
I have to rehab my back deck & I'm thinking of using composite. I'm thinking about selling, and dont want to spend money I don't have to.Yes and Yes. Anything that doesn't need to be replaced in the future will UP your property value. Composite decking would be an investment. How much? At least enough to cover the extra expenses if you decide to sell.I have to rehab my back deck & I'm thinking of using composite. I'm leaning to composite in case I decide to stay & was thinking it would help sell . Dont think selling will be a problem anyway.Anything that doesn't need to be replaced in the future will UP your property value. Composite decking would be an investment. How much?
