When creepy Joe signs the so called "infrastructure" bill today, rest assured every penny will be used to rebuild the nation's decaying infrastructure.

Here's a look at some of the more important aspects of "infrastructure" the bill will address

link to full article
excerpt:
1. $10 Billion to Create a ‘Civilian Climate Corp’
The Biden administration proposes spending $10 billion to create a “Civilian Climate Corp.” The White House claims that “This $10 billion investment will put a new, diverse generation of Americans to work conserving our public lands and waters, bolstering community resilience, and advancing environmental justice through a new Civilian Climate Corps.”
2. $20 Billion to ‘Advance Racial Equity and Environmental Justice’
The proposal sets aside a whopping $20 billion—more than the latest COVID package spent on vaccines—for “a new program that will reconnect neighborhoods cut off by historic investments and ensure new projects increase opportunity, advance racial equity and environmental justice, and promote affordable access.”
5. $100 Billion for New Public Schools and Making School Lunches ‘Greener’
You might remember that the last “COVID” legislation had $128.5 billion in taxpayer dole-outs for public schools; much of the money will be spent years after the pandemic and there was no requirement that schools actually open. Yet this was, evidently, just the beginning. The Biden “infrastructure” plan includes another “$100 billion to upgrade and build new public schools.”
“Funds also will be provided to improve our school kitchens, so they can be used to better prepare nutritious meals for our students and go green by reducing or eliminating the use of paper plates and other disposable materials,” the proposal reads.

Also just FYI...here's are some of the more novel ways it's going to be paid for while adding hundreds of billions to our annual operating deficits over the next five years.

Revenue provisions (tax)
The bill [PDF 3.11 MB] (2,740 pages) includes tax law changes as well other budgetary offsets.
link to full pdf

Division H of the bill includes revenue provisions that are estimated by the Joint Committee on Taxation (JCT) to raise approximately $51 billion over 10 years on a net basis. Read the JCT revenue estimate—JCX-33-21.

The revenue provisions in Division H include the following:

Revenue raisers

Requiring information reporting with respect to digital assets such as cryptocurrency, generally effective for returns and statements required to be filed or furnished after December 31, 2023 [estimated to raise approximately $28 billion over a 10-year period]
Extending certain Superfund excise taxes through December 31, 2031, and modifying the amount of tax applicable to certain chemicals, generally effective as of July 1, 2022 [estimated to raise approximately $14.45 billion over a 10-year period]
Terminating the employee retention credit earlier than scheduled by making it applicable to wages paid before October 1, 2021 (rather than wages paid before January 1, 2022) [estimated to raise approximately $8.2 billion over a 10-year period]
Modifying the section 430(h)(2)(C)(iv) table of applicable minimum and maximum percentages with respect to certain pension plans (i.e., “pension smoothing”) [estimated to raise approximately $2.9 billion over a 10-year period]
Revenue losers

Expanding the definition of exempt facility bonds to include certain qualified broadband projects and qualified carbon dioxide capture facilities; providing a partial exemption to the private activity bond volume cap for exempt facility bonds relating to such projects and facilities; and increasing the national limitation amount for qualified highway or surface freight transportation facilities [estimated to lose approximately $1.2 billion over a 10-year period]
Modifying the Code section 118 contribution-to-capital rules to apply to certain amounts received by regulated public utilities for water or sewerage disposal services [estimated to lose approximately $1.25 billion over a 10-year period]

Scored as having no revenue effect

Extending various highway-related excise taxes (including fuel taxes and heavy vehicle use taxes) as well as certain related exemptions for six years
Extending the authority to spend out of the highway trust fund, the sport fish restoration and boating trust fund, and the leaking underground storage tank trust fund until October 1, 2026
Modifying the automatic extension of certain deadlines in the case of taxpayers affected by federally declared disasters
Providing the Treasury Secretary with authority to postpone certain deadlines in the case of certain “significant fires”
Tolling of time for filing a petition with the U.S. Tax Court in certain cases in which a filing location is inaccessible or otherwise unavailable on the date the petition would otherwise be due
Modifying the rules for postponing certain acts due to service in a combat zone or contingency operation

This should make taxpayers angry. The tax revenues are being flushed into a black hole. Like most Americans who pay taxes, I work hard for my income. I will see no benefit whatsoever for myself, my family or my community with these spending proposals. If anything, they will make the society worse.

Certain aspects of that monstrosity (which hardly anyone who voted for it read) are a prescription for waste, fraud, and abuse. What else is new with the spending Congress passes?

A lot more than 25% of that bill goes to infrastructure. Rebuilding infrastructure is not part of the federal deal. The feds pay for new infrastructure and replacing old stuff. States pay for maintenance.

Quick question. Have you read the bill or are you relying on media articles like the one in this thread to tell you what is in the bill because most of those articles I have seen are either not entirely true or they twist definitions to make something sound worse than it is.

Fair question....

I downloaded the pdf (also linked it) and I've read about 40% of it. The rest I search for analysis that's not straight propaganda from the MSM (KPMG, certain taxpayer watchdog groups etc.)

I don't trust a word the Government controlled media says about it, do you?

Well all I can say Dave, is if it's a so called "infrastructure" bill, 100% should be going to infrastructure! They've very much expanded what I've come to understand what that means which I suppose is fine for them...but I'd remind you it's our money they're wasting on their own definitions.

With all due respect Dave my man (I really don't care to argue with you about it) but YOU tried to tell me the other day when we got into it over this piece of trash that what I was pointing out as being in the bill really isn't in the bill correct?

Now you're telling me what I'm showing the board that's actually in the bill is twisted or a misrepresentation? I'm waiting for someone to define "infrastructure" for me so I can stop getting so pissed off over all the crap I'm reading in this bill that has absolutely zero to do with so called "infrastructure".

Can you help me out?

HEY DAVE!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hate to keep belaboring this folks, but the more I read about this stupid bill, and what they so generously call "infrastructure"...the more angry I get. It's boring and I don't blame anyone for not doing so, but if any of you have the time, click the link I've provided ITT to this whole bill. Just at least read the table of contents inside the several thousand pages of all this pork and as you do... you'll find things like this:

Sec. 28001. Sport fish restoration and recreational boating safety.

I want someone to tell me what the Hell does that provision have to do with "infrastructure"? There are literally hundreds, and hundreds of caca in there like that, and it absolutely chaps my Hyde. Me and my Wife pay thousands each year in taxes on our income! Now we do OK...and we don't mind paying our "fare share" but I'll be dammed if we approve of our hard earned money being wasted on crap like this in the name of "infrastructure"!

My Lord we're getting royally screwed by those roaches in the swamp!

I like you Dave....you've always been one of my favorite posters on here. That being said, in all honesty you are flat pissin' me off about this stupid *** bill and as I told you the other day I really don't have much more to say to you about it.

I'm just trying to provide some information to the rest of the board about this monstrosity since it's very difficult to find out how they're spending (wasting) our money. So I'm going to leave it there and respectfully refrain from anymore blogging with you about this OK my man?

No offense...just can't handle your defense of this turkey anymore.

I am not defending anything. I am simply pointing out some facts to clarify things in the bill. In this hypercombative political climate everyone is looking to call out the boogeyman in everything but mostly this bill is the government reaffirming spending to things it has always spent money on. There are some things our government does that should be bipartisan and this is one of those things. This is the same bill Trump would have signed had he been president. The fact that neither side is happy about the bill should be music to everyone's ears.

I am sorry if that pisses you off. That isn't my goal.

I know Dave, but I didn't like it when Trump was pushing it...not with deficit spending anyway. I favor this type of spending as long as we're paying for it...and ONLY for what is needed! They could literally cut out half of the crap in this bill and still fund whatever infrastructure enhancements, improvements are needed and as a result save the deficits we'll be running trying to fund everything else in it!

Infuriating.

The hilarious part about that is Biden signed that bill, and every single market went down today.

Not one person in the markets believes it will help anything. In fact, most believe it will hurt and hinder everything.

Compare this to all of a Trump's bills when something like $CAT would run for days and weeks after.

Entire market just sighed as old man Biden pushed another malformed piece of legislation across his desk.
