Had a cousin stay with us last week. They are from upstate NY. His daughter lives in WV and her husband is a union boss. He has always been liberal but he has owned small businesses most of his life and at least he hates high taxes.

He made the statement that he thought Manchin was a good guy but the more he talks to his daughter, is starting to believe he is no good based on the stories he is hearing. I asked him what stories...he replied that he made money from coal...I laughed and left it alone.

His voting record speaks volumes about the lobbyists he hangs with. The letter next to his name? Meh.
Think maybe, just maybe he is trying to represent his constituents & not the DNC? People of WV are very moderate & by & large against modern day Democrats....
If he would go independent it might help him get my vote back .

He needs to get over himself and provide some assistance to the party that put him there.

All the assitance in the world couldn't get leftists to do the right thing.

He is an attention ***** and a backstabbing snake. I just shake my head at all these people thinking Manchin is going rogue against the leftists and somehow saving us. At the end, he will get some payoff for himself, a pittance for the state which the media will swoon over, and vote for this absurd piece of social justice pork.

I hope you are wrong, but I believe you are right.
Didn't his wife already get a pretty nice job out of this ?

I will still vote for him unfortunately just to see extreme libs in Washington have emotional breakdown’s because of him. Voting someone new in there would put the State at the back of the buss

Been in to long . Vote someone new . He will only be for the people of WV if it will benefit him or his family.
That's the kind of thinking that keeps people in office for decades & that is where the corruption begins & is allowed to fester...

Heather is gone from Mylan now so there is no reason for him to stick up for that company and their workers which are based in WV. His wife is no longer involved in the education politics in WV so Manchin will always vote whichever side gives him and his family more financial and power gain. It will never be in WV’s best interest, otherwise he would have been pushing back on Obama years ago.

Unfortunately the two party system is dead. I’m a pub but still vote for Joe. No one else have ever seemed strong to me and at the end of the day, and in Washington you have to play the game and that ruffles peoples feathers. I def understand your point but until there is term limits what you say will always happen no matter who is in office. In the end he has to look out for himself like we all do l, but I do believe deep down he tries to protect this State when he can.

Unfortunately you are correct. If he holds this line he may get my vote . This is within my 80% of agreeing with a person.
I had a conversation the other day with a 77 year old retired army officer, what a man he was ,is & will always be . After retiring he become a lobbyist for the Apache & scout helicopter programs. He was telling me about Robert bird , said he didn't care for him but every time he wanted Byrd to help him he had to promise to help WV in some way or the other , said most of them was like that but Byrd was the worst. Dont think that made him a bad person .

He is definitely a media *****, but he's almost single handedly narrowing the scope of this bill from $3.5T to $1.5T. I don't agree w/ his decision to nix the retrofitting for the coal burning plants, but all in all he's doing a good job. I'd prefer they keep all the environmental stuff in the bill, because I'm heavy on EVs and alt energy in my portfolio. I'm sure there will still be plenty in there for that any way.

And thanks to Sinema for basically cancelling the tax increases on top indiv rate and the corporate tax rate. If they keep the SALT deduction in the bill, it pretty much couldn't get much better.

He just told us he was a not a liberal...typical...and I love his reasoning...because it makes ME more money...not that it hurts the economy or the ability of the US to thrive.

And THAT would be his strategy. He changes the ‘appearance’ but the substance remains exactly the same especially if it works and he gains re-election.
Be does NOT seem to represent the thinking of msny who habe voted for him. He will say and do a lot of meaningless maneuvering to continue fooling enough people to gain re-election and continue with his representing the DNC . To me, typical shallow, mouthy, hollow career politician who really cares little about the welfare of those casting votes for his fake agenda and promises that lack even the hint of sincerity.

Oct 15 (Reuters) - A critical piece of U.S. President Joe Biden's climate agenda, which would replace coal- and gas-fired power plants with wind, solar and nuclear energy, will likely be dropped from the budget bill pending in Congress, the New York Times reported on Friday.

White House staffers are revising the legislation due to strong opposition from Senator Joe Manchin, the centrist Democrat from coal-rich West Virginia whose vote is crucial to its passage the newspaper said, citing sources familiar with the matter.

"Senator Manchin has clearly expressed his concerns about using taxpayer dollars to pay private companies to do things they’re already doing," Manchin spokesperson Sam Runyon told Reuters in a statement.

Nice try....I saw what you tried to do. Joe supports the retrofitting of coal plants...I think you are confused.

Typical libtard scum. They don’t want to give out their own money or take a personal financial hit, but they support more social programs that bleed other Americans dry and support handouts for everyone else.

I'll 100% guarantee he doesn't send in a dime extra and takes every damn tax break he can lie about. Make corporations and the rich pay more, but not me. 😏
