So got hit with my first ever kidney stone August 6/7 3:00 am Saturday. Trip to to the ER. Of course it's on the weekend. 7mm stone. ER says see a urologist. See urologist on Tuesday. She says "Based upon it's shape I think you have a chance to pass it but I'll go ahead and schedule you for procedure for August 26". Over the next few days I conclude the shape must be equivalent to a butcher knife crossed with a cat of nine tails. Had three or four nights I hope to never suffer again. Then last Wednesday pain just disappears completely. Watch my pee diligently and nothing comes out. Call doc two days ago and tell her no pain for a week now. Any need to do procedure? She says " Yes, might still be in there and just found a happy place to hang out for a while". So I thought she might scan me this morning to look for it before doing procedure but nooooo. She goes in anyhow and of course no stone to be found anywhere. So now I get to pee Fruit punch colored pee for a week, ache from the stent I have in me, deal with a six inch string hanging from my manhood and then get to pull the stent out myself a week from now. And pay a $3,000 co-pay. So why the heck wouldn't she scan me before doing the procedure. Anyway, no more soda or lunch meat or fast food for me going forward. Don't ever want to do this again.

Been there and done that, stents are really no f^%king fun!! Really weird, she didn't confirm stones presence. I've tried everything to prevent stones(had a least a dozen) cranberry juice, etc. All I can offer is drink, drink and drink. My MD actually advised me to drink beer occasionally. Didn't tell him, I was a WVU grad and beer drinking was mandatory 😁😁😁. Good luck until that Stent goes bye bye!!!

I pulled mine out like two days later, doc said to pull it 3 days but the next day was a work day. Asked my wife to do it in case I couldn't, she said hell no I'm not touching that thing. Kinda been the story of our last 15 years together.

Pulled mine out in 48 hours. My doc said to take it out after 72 hours but that was the night before work. Decided I wanted a day before going to work.

Dude, you're 70 years old. You must be thinking of the 14 times that your sleep is interrupted to take a pi$$ every night. #EnlargedProstate
Good thing I've keep my gut off, I'd never be able to see it.

I had my first, last 4th of July...passed it two weeks later....honestly, the pain was bearable but when I passed it (5 mm) my bathroom looked like a crime scene. I was pissing blood everywhere.

My brother gets them frequently and I'm surprised that they stented and did try lithotripsy first. I would have thought that they would have tried all of the non-evasive options before going in.

Yeah, they did lithotripsy first-did not blast it enough.

Same situation with the one I had but I asked them just before the procedure if they were going to x-ray me again to make sure it's still there and they acted like the thought had never crossed their mind, so I told them to do it. In my case, it was still there.

I should have been more assertive for sure.

Had a few kidney stones.

In my case,

I stopped drinking Ice Tea,
quit eating
Chocolate and Nuts, and Spinach.

Had a Lithotripsy, it worked.

drinking Ice Tea, and
Eating chocolate, nuts - never again.
