It really is about Iranian backed militias getting stupid in the region. The Iraq government probably requested us to do it or they would go public we wouldn't help them against Iran. Really putting the administration in a jam because they love them some Iran. The problem is with 20 years of "Nation Building" Iraq and Afghanistan should be able handle this crap on their own.
