Not a soccer fan and I think it's boring as hell. But good luck tonight.

Thanks, Westy...I don't usually follow soccer and the games seem to be low scoring dogfights but thanks for your well wishes.
Soccer sucks when a team gets outplayed but wins like Friday when UNC played better but Marshall played better against Indiana and I thought the hoosiers were gonna steal it. Good win and title for the herd.

Brings in interest from out of state when Marshall affiliated soccer camps are held is one thing that comes to mine. The outdoor soccer complex is thriving at Institute and I’m sure Marshall will be making the rounds around the community as Institute is just right outside of Charleston on I64-W.

I don't buy it. It's 1 title. Be consistent year in and year out making the tournament and going far. Right now all it has done is put a show me the money sign on their coaches back. Congrats and it is big win national title.

How many West Virginians are on the team? How many Americans are on any college team? Majority is foreigners on D1 teams. Get Americans involved in Soccer and yeah it becomes big for the everyone.

Personally in my opinion soccer sucks. That is one sport Trans people could play. A men and women's mixed team and it would be the same. Also still boring.

It's a huge plus for Marshall and Huntington and Alumni from Marshall. I seriously doubt 90% of the state even knows it. I would not have known they even had a team if I had not seen it in the woodshed.

Same goes for WVU.

Soccer camps were already huge there and Grassey has been doing it since he was at UC. The title may help some but that complex is doing well now. There is a pro academy in Columbus.

I may be wrong, but I don't see soccer ever thriving in West Virginia, particularly at the high school level, with the exceptions being for the rich kids that attend Charleston Catholic, GW, Hurricane, Bridgeport, etc.

Seems to be a lot like girls high school volleyball, where the rich parents pay a bunch of dough to have their snotty kids join travel teams.

Its that way pretty much everywhere. My neices and nephew near charlotte played on teams and all of the better players were kids who were on travel teams.

Yes, I know. I once dated a woman back in the mid-2000s, and she probably spent over $10,000 in travel volleyball one summer, traveling hours away every weekend, and having to stay in hotels, eat out all meals, etc.

My point was more about WV not being a huge money state, and from an outsiders view, it seems the majority of money is tied up in a select few areas of the state. Of course, you could also argue it's like that everywhere as well, particularly with the rich congregating to certain areas.
