Lockdown until we have how many Covid cases per day? Or what amount of deaths per day? What’s the metric you’ll initially use...and then pull it away like Lucy pulling the football on Charlie Brown? When the economy is destroyed beyond recognition, then what? Print more money and give it away like you’re making it rain at a strip joint?

This is what they want. These stupid masks are becoming part of our lives. People just line up like cattle and obey. It’s insanity!!

You definitely have a medical issue. Every 28 days your period comes and then it lasts for 27 days.

lol you all are such fools. You want the economy open but won't do what it takes. That kind of thinking makes no sense to most people. Also vaccines are coming which will bring this into manageable range and then the economy will re-open fully ultimately. This is not the new normal you moron but it will be like this for many months yet. You and some of the other hand wringers on here need to grow a pair and get a grip. It's a good thing real sacrifice isn't needed.

So you have no answer only insults
Read it again. You need to do what it takes to get the economy back open but many don't want to. Those who won't cooperate shouldn't come on here complaining about shut downs when that kind of thinking contributes to them. Follow the recommendations of medical experts and gov't officials. It's not hard. It's not a cure all but it's all we have until a vaccine is widely available.

Oh so we have to kill the economy so we can open it up - that is some sound logic there. I feel pretty confident that I have an idea what the medical issues are with this virus and how people around it everyday are able to work through it.

Except for those lying on gurneys in some hospital hallways waiting on a room. I knew you wouldn't understand.

The thinking of the left is pretty typical. They’d rather everyone go down than just those who’re basically on fixed incomes and not contributing to society.

We shut down in the beginning because we didn't know much about the virus. Now that we know more about it

Why is this political thing? Social distance and wear a mask. Don't do those things and case numbers jump up. If case numbers jump up, restrictions will follow.

We wouldn't win WWII anymore. Gas and food rationing, no new cars, metal recycling. People made sacrifices for the greater good. Now people won't cover their cough because this is America, damn it!

People are following instructions. Cases still go up. More restrictions follow. That is why people are pushing back. The people telling us what to do dont know **** about what they are saying.

Are they following instructions? I think all of us know more than a few who don't. Add to that the states where no restrictions were made, and that creates these sorts of problems.

Bingo. Wearing a mask and social distancing are small sacrifices yet very powerful tools. There's no reason for it to be so overly politicized other than Biff's petulance over mask wearing.

Have you read any of the economic papers on the impact the virus alone had vs lockdowns? Are total lockdowns the answer no? Is ignoring the problem the answer no? Amazing how black and white, and tribal everyone always tries to make everything.

I know when I go to the store everyone is wearing a mask. At work people I know are following rules. Surprise...cases going up.

So powerful these tools that states with mask mandates are seeing more cases than ever.

Logic....its not for idiots.

States with high infection rates perhaps. Who has a 'severe lockdown'? WV's Repub gov says it's ok to call the cops on store visitors (for ex.) who won't follow the rules and won't leave.

“We are making this as an ultra-mandatory requirement for all of our businesses,” Justice said.

Businesses, he said, would need to enforce compliance or risk their licenses. If patrons refuse, the governor said, then businesses should call the police, who could bring obstruction of justice charges.

“To our business owners, I am telling you straight up, the next thing that follows this is you know what and that is the shutting down of businesses,” Justice said.

WV's isn't a lockdown just "ultra-mandatory' mask wearing which would make most Repubs cry and hold their breath.

What existing law on the books allows him to make such a move on businesses?

It’s not a political thing. It’s a common sense thing. We’ve been operating under the restrictions and guidelines proscribed, no one, at least from what I see in my area is brazenly going against the guidelines for mask wearing. My state has been very pragmatic and yet we see cases skyrocketing all of the sudden. Around here, people didn’t just start taking it less serious or stop complying.

Something isn’t adding up.

I have no idea but I'm pretty sure that most governors have emergency powers that they can exercise.

Gov. Jim Justice announced a flurry of executive orders on Friday aimed at holding the coronavirus pandemic at bay — ramping up a mask mandate, declaring an extra few days of Thanksgiving break for students and delaying winter sports for schools.

Not a legal expert and not fond of the "rule", but is this any different than forcing food handlers to wash their hands? Hairnets? Smoking? Etc? Honest question
