Since Colorado legalized pot in 2014, they have increased
the $1Billion threshold in taxes collected from marijuana sales.
That overall revenue increase is likely closer to $1,5Billion when
you take into account the increases in tourism, manufacturing,
population, et cet associated with the idea that people are
interested in living in a trendy place with upscale ideas. West
Virginia is perfect for this change as well with snow skiing and
the white water rafting industry. The tight-*** GOP has to
recognize that legalizing pot means big money, jobs creation,
and population increases.

Once again, Kazzman doesn’t even know about his own state/WV. You do realize that Earl Ray Tomblin refused to pass the marijuana legalization bills and also promoted the opioid hysteria( that has backfired huge in every state that has done it. The opioid hysteria was promoted because they were trying to get federal funding. Tomblin was a Democrat. He may be the worst governor we’ve had in years.

Its interesting that a medical marijuana bill finally got passed under a Republican WV governor.

What is opioid hysteria? Also can you provide any evidence of your claim regarding ERT and med marijuana? I didn't think the legislature had ever passed the bill prior to more recently.

What is opioid hysteria?

opioid hysteria is where the idiots in Washington DC and local officials think that prescription opioid use is an issue. It never was. WV has a high number of prescriptions due to the aging demographic and the fact that the majority of the work force is physical based, instead of sitting at a computer or at home all day. They scared the **** out of all the doctors and the doctors drastically reduced or outrigh refused to write the medications to actual chronic pain patients without following proper protocols. This lead to the fentany/heroin boom that we are seeing now and is more dangerous than any oxycodone pill. The state and federal government regulations are what created the heroin/fentanyl monster. WV had a pain problem because of the demographi and occupation status of many, and there has not been any scientific advancement in the treatment of chronic pain that works as efficiently as correct opioid use. Hopefully WV gets this medical marijuana running by next year like they’ve mentioned, but then again, it’s almost 2 years behind schedule.

This new rehab money that’s available has affected how the State and how physicians are practicing. All you have to do is pay attention and follow the money.

So you don't think WV had/has a problem with opioid abuse?

you do realize that it depends on demographics as well as pharmacy. Some of those prescriptions probably came from pill mills, but some were legit. I don’t agree with cutting people off who have legit pain so local officials can grandstand.

You should also realize that when they count overdoses and overdose deaths, they include street heroin/fentanyl and refuse to differentiate. If they differentiate, then it would show that these people aren’t dying due to stupid hydrocodone/oxycodone

And, you’re probably taking a bunch of money out of the hands of criminals.

You do realize that medical pot legalization has virtually
nothing do to with or in common with legalizing recreational use of pot?

Duh, I’m just glad WV passed any law related to this.

This may surprise you, but I agree that WV should legalize it for recreational use. Potential revenue would increase because you’re not limited to only the medicinal sector. WV is sorely missing out on this and is behind the curve when it could have led the charge on the East Coast. Cultivation of hemp and marijuana could both be done successfully on places that once contain abandoned strip mine areas, etc.

I believe WV should lead the charge for decriminalizing psilocybin/magic mushrooms and decriminalize any plant and fungi psychedelics. Their is potential for “medical psilocybin use“ or recreation use and WV needs to investigate this and support it.
