You're talking out of both sides of your mouth. One post you talk about "There's responsibility and irresponsibility on both sides of this deal". The next post you are wondering where the common sense democrats are.
Name me one thing that has been irresponsible on the right. Unless you are one of the nut jobs who thinks protecting yourself, your family and your property are irresponsible.
Well, first the second post you reference wasn't mine but that's beside the point.
As far as "irresponsibility on the right" this country has a significant problem and the right is largely just letting things run status quo. Don't get me wrong, I think their is a lot the black community can be doing to improve the lives of themselves, their children, their communities. A lot of that goes back to personal responsibility and making better personal choices. But I also think the conservative leadership of this country needs to roll their sleeves up and get some stuff moving as well. And I just don't see that happening. To me that is irresponsible to not try and make changes.
Police Reforms - Develop and require EVERY police department from national on down to Mayberry one-cop town to do psychological testing on every new policeman candidate to identify applicants who probably don't have the temperament to be a policeman, require body cams on every policeman in the country national, state, county, local, develop a national registry of former cops so that a "bad" cop fired from one jurisdiction can't go to another department and be hired, develop a national "scoring" system whereby you score so many demerits you're off the street, develop a weapon that can subdue without killing (i.e. improve the taser). Better training at the local level and more funding to make the profession economically attractive.
Education - Improve the school buildings in traditionally black neighborhoods, allow families to choose their school vs. being tied to a geographic location, develop a scholarship program whereby men and women who go into the teaching profession can go to college free if they agree to return to a traditionally black school district to teach for five years after graduation
Business Subsidies (Not Tax Credits) for businesses who locate in traditionally black neighborhoods and hire minority workers. I say "not tax credits" because those just don't work. They are currently touting these opportunity zone credits and I can tell you the hoops and criteria you have to meet to get those credits really limits their effectiveness.
Just a few thoughts off the top of my head.
Look, I'm on the conservative side of this and am just disgusted with what the Dems and the various cities are allowing to happen to this country and our cities. And like I said, the black community can do a lot to help themselves. But I think there are changes that can be made to inch things along for the better.
