So I guess the alternative is to just go on about business with our head in the sand? Sure, we should all be outraged that 6 months into this thing we don't have reliable tests because 1/3 of the country thinks this thing is a made up way to inconvenience them. Maybe that's the story?

People with flu are most contagious in the first three to four days after their illness begins.

Most healthy adults may be able to infect others beginning 1 day before symptoms develop and up to 5 to 7 days after becoming sick.

If we would do a better job of seeing this disease for what it is and working together as Americans versus the way we have handled it.....we would all be in a much better place right now.

My personal experience is with my healthy, active 28-year old sister-in-law. Tested positive during a neighborhood testing sweep by her country’s health department. Positive test, no symptoms. 4-days later, all hell broke lose, intense headaches, body and joint pain, loss of smell and taste, sore throat, swollen glands.....this progressed to intense coughing, energy loss and gastro issues. For a three week period she couldn’t take care of herself so we hired someone to help her and a doctor who treated her 4-days per week with Remdesivir and Tocilizumab.....we are now at 10-weeks for her and she is roughly 90-percent, still with breathing and energy issues....Each and every person and their bodies are different.....with this virus, you just don’t know...

First Juan Soto and now these tests... Do you trust these tests... ? We should all doubt them.. why are the "journalists" not talking about this more?

https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id...c-last-two-covid-19-tests-were-false-positive

https://www.npr.org/sections/health...bout-false-negatives-from-quick-covid-19-test

https://www.seattletimes.com/nation...aught-by-a-rival-firm-preliminary-study-says/

I could go on with articles from the FDA and nearly every major new network. False positives on the quick tests aren't news. We know they have a roughly 30% false positive rate. That's why they're done in conjunction with lab testing (as the Phillies did here) , which is as close to 100% as it gets. Quick tests are done to quickly isolate people that are likely carriers while waiting on confirmation.

Trust but verify. Texas recently listed 225 deaths as COVID that actually resulted from other causes. Too many instances of states, health agencies, and hospitals providing inaccurate reports of positive tests and deaths.
I think there are instances on both sides, ie., deaths that have been reported as and deaths that haven't been reported as. I also think tests are the same, a lot of false positives and a lot of false negatives. Ultimately I think the numbers will balance themselves out. A perfect example of what constitutes and doesn't constitute covid is Eduardo Rodriguez, pitcher for the Red Sox, he had it and now is clear but had developed a heart condition as a result of the illness. God forbid, does the heart problem count as a covid result or not if he were to die? The bottom line, the Red Sox have said he isn't available this year due to these complications. By definition it isn't covid but had he not gotten covid would he had this problem. Unfortunately, legitimate and good discussion topic.

That makes way too much sense. No chance without the spread of a deadly disease (99.96% of recovery), the hoax can't continue. Be patient only 94 days left of killerona

It is the same reason deaths were talked about for months when it first hit that is all they mentioned. The same reason mask were discouraged and than They said use use then despite their knowledge on the subject has not changing. They are controlling the masses to do what they think is best. The false positives are a real problem. It should be part of the discussion. They just don’t care what you say because they are smarter.

You're right that it goes both ways. Excess deaths in 2020 compared to the norm are significantly higher than what the official covid count meaning that there are likely more missed than overcounted. In the US, the counts are close enough to be reasonable in any case and not so far off that they'd change the course of action but in poorer countries they are a fraction of the reality.
Here's a March through May analysis of the US only: https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jamainternalmedicine/fullarticle/2767980

Other countries: https://www.economist.com/graphic-detail/2020/07/15/tracking-covid-19-excess-deaths-across-countries

I simply don't give a **** anymore. Everyone else I know feels the same. So what if I get it...seriously. So what? It's a next to harmless fvcking sniffles bug that will make me hate life for a day or two. Norovirus made me **** myself TWICE in my sleep, I fell down the stairs and broke my hand because I was so disoriented, and I couldn't go 10 minutes without sitting on a toilet. This sniffles bug has got nothing on that ****.

I mentioned this in the thread back in March when everyone "wanted more testing". The false, no pun intended, premise being, IMO, that testing changes anything.
Rushing a medical test to market for a "novel" disease is fraught with problems.
Its not just the false + rate but the false neg rate, sensitivity and specificity of the test that are at issue.
Even for strep throat, a test thats been around for decades, the sensitivity is at best 90% and more likely in the range of 70-80%.

Compelling stuff. Tell me again about this killer virus that people under 75 have a 99.9% chance of surviving or never even knowing they had it.

Dude. We get it, you’ve made your position exceptionally well known. Your tough. The virus is weak. You're impervious. 10-4.

Killed my cousin...

I lost a relative to the flu. It sucks, but it doesn't change the fact that I have a much higher chance of being struck by lightning and dying than I do dying from this virus. This fact alone is what is making people say "**** it".

Lol, it was the worst illness I have ever had. It got to the point that I couldn't sleep because I knew what would happen. There was no stopping it. Luckily it was a 2 day thing, then I was recovering on the 3rd. Those two days, though...wouldn't wish it on anybody.
