Mellow Mushroom isn’t local. It’s a rather large regional chain. But I agree, it’s delicious.

You're right...I meant they don't have a lot of venues here in Atlanta. The pizza is pretty good though...lots of variety and always baked fresh to order.

I judge pizza by the crust, and their crust is up there with pies and pints. They are by far the best chain pizza place.

Agreed. I think their ingredients...the freshness... is what I enjoy most about their pizza. Never that "pasty" taste of chain link pizza. Always fresh, always hearty, always flavorful.

I didn’t see it, but I believe your description. When I was in high school, Pizza Hut was the best hang out. All of us would go there right after a Friday night game, getting there just before it closed, then go hang out at one of the “cool“ parent’s houses who would buy us beer.

I was a kid in the 90s and one of the best accomplishments was to earn enough stars in the Pizza Hut "Book It" program to get a free pan pizza. Those were the days haha

way too greasy. There is local joint here that has some decent pizza, Mellow Mushroom. Not a lot of venues, but where they serve it, it's pretty good fresh out the oven.

Mellow Mushroom is a smaller chain. From at least Alabama to as far north as Blacksburg. Ibused to go to mellow mushroom when I lived in Charlotte.

Capri pizza above Sunnyside was my first real experience with pizza. Didn't have pizza in military school of home in Iaeger at all. Might have been somewhere in welch but in late 60's and early 70's pickings were slim.

In my old hometown stompin' ground, (Buffalo, NY) there is place call Bocce Club pizza. Run by some "Goombas" straight from Sicily (Family business) Hands down, THE best pizza I've ever had.

Sauce is homemade with basil, garlic, caraway seeds, and cloves in it, authentic mozzarella cheese, hand tossed dough, thick cut Italian sausage & pepperoni . Fresh cut red peppers, gourmet onions....just outstanding pizza. Folks come from as far away as Toronto Canada to get some and carry it back up North.

Not any more my friend! Used to be a HUGE Bills fan. Long story short...They pissed me off with some Coaching changes and player trades and I disowned them! Like a jilted lover. Don't follow em anymore, also can't stand the Falcons.

Don't really have a Pro team anymore. It's all Mountaineers all the time as far as who I live and die for. Love football, but NFL and now even College is pissing me off with all the political BS.

Just play the game please?

Figured you'd be like me and be a fan of:

I always get asked why I'm not a Falcons or Bulldog fan living in Atlanta?

I'll never follow the Dogs for some of the nasty things they said about my beloved team prior to the '06 Sugar Bowl when we squared off against them here. They were some of the most arrogant snobs I'd ever run across. I was there when we spanked that Puppy, and let 'em have it afterwards.

As for the Falcons, they don't suck but they do choke. Big time. Have been nothing but chokers since I moved here in '92.

I understand, Atl. I moved to West Virginia in between WVU's two "undefeated" seasons, and all that I heard was how overrated Ohio State and the B1G were, so I "feel your pain," to quote Slick Willie. Wichita Falls was hot as Hades, wasn't it? The Cowboys have trained there before, but the summers there are reportedly unbearable. Former Buckeyes' quarterback J.T. Barrett is from there.

Yup....hot...& dusty...and LOUD! Sheppard AFB is there and all you hear are C-5A Starlifts constantly flying overhead! It's also "Tornado alley" always some trailer park being wiped out by a twister. I got there shortly after they had the "big one" that took out half the damn town!

No joke.

I've been to Pies and Pints a few times and it just hasn't done it for me.
My opinion is that Graziano's, which has a handful of restaurants in the Kanawha Valley, is the best in the area. The original owners came over from Italy, and don't care much about providing good service, but make really good pizza.

Thanks. I'll try that out next time I'm in the area

It was definitely the best gas station pizza by far and challenged some of the chains in my opinion. I’d say it most resembled pizza hut’s pan pizza. I was a fan. Their calzone were great.

I’d definitely put it above dominos, ginos, little Caesar’s, close to Pizza Hut, and below Papa Johns. Now, having grown up and moved out of state, I think all of those are garbage.

I like NY style. I like Pies and Pints. And if I could ever find the pizza from The Capri near the Raleigh County Armory, I’d be in heaven. It was even good when it went out towards WinterPlace it was renamed La Franks. King Tuts was always pretty good too, but i especially liked their poor man’s steak hoagies.
All big chain pizza sucks...smaller chains are different. But Gino's in South Charleston was great before I was introed to real pizza. Their "pizza breads", which were basically hoagies w/ pizza toppings, were delicious. Still can taste those things. Looks like there are still quite a few locations.

I agree as to big pizza chains vs. smaller parlors, but Graziano's blows Gino's away. If you like a really good hot ham and cheese sub, then Husson's here locally is the place for it. I liked Mama Lombardi's on Long Island (Suffolk Co.) when I visited my relatives as a child, by the way.

Hussons is good. Giovannis is another chain around WV. Some locations have different items and are better than others. The locations in Logan and Weston have been the best.

I don’t really consider small chains chains. I have a negative connotation with the concept of a chain that the smaller ones aren’t guilty of...like buying frozen **** and mass producing it.

Hussons are really good people. Nick and Sharon the founders and they run the Valley and Cross Lanes locations. Their extended family run a lot of the other stores. Nick and Sharon are fine people. Immigrants and god fearing syrian people.

Grimaldis is a good chain pizza. Pretty small chain and it is a higher end type pizza place. I have only eaten at their store in the Venetian in Vegas. Probably the best pizza I have had in 20 years at least.

If you are ever in the EP.....give Brothers in Charles Town and Angelo's Brick Oven Pizza in Martinsburg a try.......best I have ever had outside of NYC.
I am strictly a pepperoni pizza guy....they have the best.
