that if it goes before the Senate trial, then the Presidents attorney can subpoena anyone and and question anyone they want...and the GOP controlled Senate can dictate what is fair game to ask about?

That would be interesting

I suspect that means that Roberts gets to decide whether a line of questioning is relevant or not. As I understand the process, and I'm no expert, it's essentially a court presided over by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, and the Senators are jurors. The House provides the prosecutors, and the President can bring his own defense team. Maybe I'm TV courting this a little too much.

He only presides. The senate controls the proceeding. I am not an expert either but going by memory of the process when Clinton was impeached.

Wouldn't it be awesome if this was the plan all along. Exposing the deep state in a show trial in the Senate for all the world to see in real time.

Except that isnt correct regarding CJ Roberts.

Well, it is easy to tell you are not intelligent and it is obvious that mule is quite intelligent.

1. That the GOP Senate isn't part of the "Deep State" and "Swamp".....[winking]

2. That the GOP Senate doesn't see that Pence as POTUS would be best for reelection chances for Republicans to regain the White House.......[winking]

I looked it up. The justices have made procedural rulings during impeachment but the senate has also in the past voted to overrule the Justice. CJSCOTUS insures the vice president does not preside over the removal of the President from office.

I can't even pretend to begin to know the answer to that. I would bet no, but I wouldn't risk too great a value.
